David, I must say I agree with each and every one of your answers.

agree all you want, but like 4-5 of his NOs were to players who are already in the ROH

I loved Danny White and rooted for him passionately, but he was more of an 80's version of Drew Bledsoe. If he played for another team, then he would probably be considered, but this is the Dallas Cowboys and he was not in the same class as the guys that are in the ring of honor.

Bledsoe could not hold Danny's jock-strap.:lmao:

This franchise has been blessed with TWO HOF QBs, Staubach and Aikman. Unfortunately, this has also jaded some Zoners view points. I ask again, what puts Meredith above White in terms of accomplishments? Do not get me wrong, I have nothng but respect for Don. I just cannot believe the venom some still spew at White. You would think he played for the Deadskins or Eagles with the way some in he speak.
Danny was not Roger or Troy (both of whom were far from perfect) but he was an excellant QB who deserves to be remembered better by the Cowboys' fans.
I hope when Romo's career is over, if he has not equaled Troy's feats, he gets more respect than Danny does.

Are you guys still angry at Danny ?

This is a guy who, right up until Troy Aikman, held most ( if not all ) Cowboys passing records. He led the team to three straight NFC Championship games, another what, 3 playoffs appearances ? after that, and he doesn't deserve to get into the Cowboys Ring of Honor ?

That team didn't win because of White. They had a ton of talent and fairly or not the QB couldn't get it done. White was prone for making a turnover or taking a sack at innoportune times. White in the ROH would cheapen it in my opinion.

He's the best punting passer in the history of the franchise, but that'll have to be enough. No ROH.

Bledsoe carried his team to the Superbowl and Danny White did not. The Cowboys are about Championships, it is what defines this team. White was a very good QB, but he was not up to the high bar set here. I don't think Dandy Don should be in the ROF either.

I loved Danny White and I don't think he gets any respect, For how good he was, Everyone talks about the 49er game like it was his fault, he scored 27 points and a finger tip tackle away from one of the best upsets of all time. The Defense allowed Wilbert Montgomery and Leroy Harris to have over 200 yards rushing on them when the played the eagles and Well the Commanders bashed his head in. Very hard to follow Roger, But Danny Never ever had the Defense Staubach had, If only Hollywood Henderson and Too Tall would have been there ( I know too tall came back and that helped but when we went to the 3 title games our defense was a shell of its former self. So Danny White gets the blame, For those of you who watched the boys in the 80s you know it wasnt his fault. poor Danny.

I'm not big into the Bledsoe - White comparisions, BUT, late in their careers, those number 11's on their jerseys might as well have been big bullseyes. Both of the aging QBs were sitting ducks in the pocket.

The only player I would like to see inducted who didn't have both amazing ability and an amazing career is Bill Bates. I'd love to see him make it even though he in no way deserve HOF consideration.

I like Danny White. His biggest fault was keeping us from sinking faster and getting higher draft picks. but he's not a ring of honor candidate IMO.

Well, his posts are certainly prolific, and for the most, part well-reasoned, but I wouldn't necessarily declare that he deserves to go into the Ring Of Honor...

Danny White is a great poster but I don't think we need to start putting CowboysZone members in the ROH. We'd have to start with MW, TB, Hos, etc. before we ever got to Danny White, IMO.

It would just be a mess. :)

I appreciate the support! :D

As much as I like Danny, I don't see him getting in the ROH and that's OK.

Being a Danny White fan inherently means accepting some heartache and lack of appreciation. If everyone loved Danny and was heaping praise upon him, then it wouldn't mean as much to be a fan.

Troy Aikman:

12 years, 32,942 yards, 165 TDs, 141 ints, 81.6 passer ratings. Biggest accomplishments: 3 Superbowl Championships

Roger Staubach:

9 years ( as a starter ), 22,700 yards, 153 TDs, 109 ints, 83.4 passer ratings.
Biggest accomplishments : 2 Superbowl Championships

Danny White:

9 years ( as a starter ), 21, 959 yards, 155 TDs, 132 ints, 81.7 passer ratings. Biggest accomplishments: 3 straight NFC Championship appearances.

We can all agree that all three of those guys played with oustanding talent.

So, basically, those of you who are against Danny for the ROH are judging him based ONLY on him not being able to led the team to the Superbowl because, obviously, it CANNOT be based on his stats.

Fair enough.

Just two more things:

a) Jerry Jones should immediately remove Don Meredith from the ROH.

b) If Tony Romo does not lead this team to the Superbowl ( lord forbid ), no matter what his stats look like, no matter how he performed on the field during critical games, he will NOT be eligible for the ROH.

Fair ?

It's not based solely on stats...White did not elevate his level of play in big games..and other than a couple of instances he played poorly in the postseason

he threw alot of interceptions and his last 4-5 yrs, nobody I have ever saw threw more ints for TD's..nobody in their right mind could blame him for the SF loss because that was actually one of his better postseason games...but he did play poorly in alot of other playoff games and was the main reason we lost several times

he was an above avg starter...nothing more, nothing less...he was not an elite player

If Romo can't lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory (heaven forbid), and unless he has a career (and stats) like Marino/F Tarkington/W Moon, I'd imagine it will be difficult for Romo to make the Ring of Honor.

No, not the COMPLETE blame, but a large part of it. Danny just wasn't good enough to get it done when the chips were down. He was a very good QB, but was NEVER clutch when it mattered most. He wasn't the consumate winner that elevated teammates to new heights. Good, yes. ROH? No.
Danny had the Cowboys WINNING that game til the play to Clark & he's STILL a "large part" of the BLAME? You make no sense.
