Should Eberflus be fired?

Eberflush doesn't bring in players. He has nothing to do with the lack of talent. This has Jerry and Son all over it. This is Football 101.

Now, if you want to talk about how putrid Eberflush is in regards to schemes and actually getting players to play, I totally agree. But after the Joneses actually make things right again with the roster
He bought into his boy Sanborn. How is that working out??

I hate to say it, but yeah.

I see a world with Overshown back and healthy. Diggs/Bland being healthier and Revel coming in later in the season. People want to talk about Diggs/Bland and they’ve been burned plenty this year, but a lot of the time they’re not off by a lot. Diggs doesn’t move like he’s completely washed imo and Bland literally just looks like he’s fighting pain every snap. And if the edge rushers figure it out…Houston plays more, Clowney fits in, maybe the rookie and Kneeland improve. Sam Williams is most useful at containing RB’s and fast QB’s
That is a lot of ifs

The question surely needs to be considered by the Cowboys. We as fans have no insight into how he’s doing other than the results on the field which have been abysmal. Is it mostly coaching or is it mostly the players? Without being there every day with the team and observing first hand, we as fans have no idea how he is with the players.

I’d be interesting to hear @Ranching thoughts on the topic.
You have to have the players (secondary)

What good would that do?
Give the next DC a full~ 2 weeks to prepare.
If Matt can't get the defense to buy in by then, and the offense can keep the team in the mix, I would want a changing of the guard at DC.

The defense played better against GB, a team that everyone, including 98% on here would throttle us.

Or did they play better?

The pass rush was better, but GB was missing a starter, or was it 2 starters on the OL. Did that make a difference or not. Hard to say. We were missing a few as well. Dak had good protection. But that has nothing to do with our defense.

They secondary gave of a long pass, so that seemed to be improved. However not stopping 3rd down plays really hurt them. And the stupid penalties all night long, on both sides of the ball.

I am not saying he should get a reprieve, but it is also too early to fire him.

We all knew it would take half the season to truly see how this team was going to look.
There are also injuries to deal with. However, this defense still should have been playing better. The
The defense didn't play better Jazz. They gave up almost 500 yds AGAIN. They allowed 40 points AGAIN. They gave up more than 4 explosive plays in a game AGAIN. Personnel changes didn't happen AGAIN. They were unable to make critical stops AGAIN. The fact that our offense played WAAAY better than anyone expected is the only thing that washes some of the stink off. If the score had been 40-9 like most of the country thought, would you still think they played better? I don't think so. We have other pieces to put in on defense. I have seen other posters say that the coaches know more than us, but I submit that they can't play any worse, so why not at least take a look?

yes he needs to be gone. A great performance by the offense last night was semi-wasted because of this guy's defense.

No. He is playing the hand he was dealt. Yes they are really bad but like Collinsworth said last night, they isn't much else he can do.
I agree but disagree.

My issue isn’t the talent. It’s the same defensive scheme for 95% of the games

He's a coach not a miracle worker. The defense has dealt with injuries and poor roster management's. The only DC i can see making something out of nothing is Steve Spagnuolo.

That was why I asked ... or did they .....

My meaning of my post. Asking if they really played better, because they gave up yards in a different way.
Cut down getting burned deep. But gave up longer drives because they could not stop them on 3rd down.

I should have worded it a bit different.

It was not what I meant. I should have worded it differently.

I did ask on my 2nd line of my post ... or did they ....

See my post above.

Dallas has a talent level issue and not a coaching issue. Firing the DC is like slapping lipstick on a pig; nothing will change until there is better talent on the roster.
