I agree. I think any win is big, after all there are only 16 in a reg season. Having said that it is important that after any win you don't only look at the good things you did, you really have to focus on things that must be corrected and improved on. I felt the Cowboys did a lot of good things but clearly there was some sloppy play, miscommunication and flat out misses in this game. Enjoy the win then get back to work and correct those things.

And also fans gripe, as I have done also about halftime adjustment. It seemed in the 2nd half they had much better coverage and didn't let those players get open like that as much. Or I just did not notice it. Now tackling was still an issue, as giving up that long run of 38 yards toward the end of the game. They can work on those issues though.

If not for the failed onside kick and Zeke's fumble, that gave the Commanders 6 points. Which the Defense needs credit for holding them to these 6 points. But maybe that is 14 points for us, to counter those 2 missed long passes by Cousins. But fans do not want to recognize that.

He looks like he's doing a great job managing Dak and developing him or is this going to be like with Romo where Garrett never receives any credit not only in developing him but scheming an offensive plan which fits his talent.
No.

ah, is that the same Jason Garrett who led the Cowboys now to 8 straight loses in a row at AT&T stadium...who gets that credit??

While it might not appear that way, I try to be fair in my praise and criticism. And, two games into this season, I'm willing to give our offensive coaches and head coach some credit for the job they've done. Overall job and overall record is another story, but focused on the here and now, I'm liking what I've seen thus far.
Good post stash!

Too many people here, myself included sometimes, already have their minds made up regardless of what happens.

Nice to see a fair and objective post.

Lol, from firing last week, to hero this week??

Absolutely not. They had Dak at #3 and Moore would be your starter right now if not for his injury. Dak would be the hidden gem on the bench.
You don't know that. Moore got injured very early on. We'll never know how this would have shaken up. I'm on record in saying Dak was going to beat out Moore. He never got the chance because Moore got injured.

Garrett is the head coach of the team and imo can only be measured by wins and losses. If you want to give credit for mediocrity which is his present WL record. Have at it.
Personally I think he's a nice guy and a model citizen and employee for the NFL but I do not think he's an effective leader and certainly hamstrung by his bosses

why would Garrett get much credit
he was poor with Weeden, Cassel, havent seen much with Kellen Moore or much improvement with Showers.

Giving him credit for Dak is like giving him credit for Romo.

Sorry....I can't give anyone in this organization credit for Dak. We picked him in the 4th round. He was not close to being someone we really wanted. And please do not forget....if Kellen Moore does not break his leg....we would not even be seeing Dak. I am sure the "process" of getting Dak up to speed would be YEARS away.

Philly had Chip Kelly come in and win double digit games and the division in YEAR 1 AFTER Mike Vick getting hurt and inserting Nick Foles. Then he won double digit games the following year. His third year they make what many called disastrous salary cap wrecking offseason moves and he was fired. Now they bring in all new coaches and a rookie QB on offense. And many of us were waiting for their "process" to take about 3+ years to get going. But somehow they look COMPETENT with new offensive/defensive coordinators in YEAR 1. Somebody forgot to tell them to follow the "process"!

That is pure speculation on Moore, given how Dak produced during the pre season I don't know if it is a given that Moore takes over as backup. As for not giving credit for Dak then I guess it is fair to say no coach should take any credit for a players success?

Had Dak came in and failed I have no doubt many would be blaming the organization and coaching staff.

Moore was not even a QB teams in the NFL wanted. Yet we brought him in to be the backup this year after the debacle of last year....and you want to convince me Dak was going to get a chance? After the debacle of last year we were going to roll with a 4th rookie as the backup QB? Have you and I been watching the same team?

I think a players play would have convinced. Fact is out of 32 teams it was only the Cowboys who selected Dak they brought him in they worked him out and they drafted him. You not giving credit not shocking but it still took work on the Cowboys part bringing in player after player at QB then pulling the trigger on him. After that they took grief from many here of why didn't they trade up or give up more to get another QB and now that Dak is showing he has some good talent now it is no one in the organization deserves credit. yeah that comes off as real bright. Forget it you guys have made up your mind and will be damned to give credit to anyone if it goes against your own bias. However had Dak looked poor there is no doubt you wolves would have been jumping all over that.

I admit and I am on record saying I wanted Wentz. After that...I wanted Cook. Dak has been a PLEASANT surprise. And all I am saying...is that I am of the belief...based on the track record of this organization post Jimmy Johnson....Dak has been a pleasant surprise to them as well! And I firmly believe this coaching staff....and their belief in the "process"...would have deemed Dak not ready for the bright lights!

Dallas is not the only team who talks about process it is a process developing players and turning a team around. You guys jump on that BS yet must have closed ears to so many other teams and coaches who talk of it being a process.

As for Dak I agree he is exceeding a lot of peoples expectation and maybe even that of the coaches and organization but Dallas also did their homework on Dak and they took the chance on him and much I think based on the time they spent with him.

I think receivers dropping sure TD's forcing us to settle for field goals got us beat more than anything else. Good plays were called, the quarterback executed them, and touchdowns were there to be scored and the receivers came up short.
Plus the game plan was for Dak to have success. It worked and worked well, IMO.

Everyone complaining about a simple game plan/scheme...............the dude is a rookie QB. Don't ruin him.

Teams that go on and on about "process" are buying time because they usually have no clear direction.

Chip Kelly showed up...and we laughed at him...but all he did was win double digit games his first 2 years with a QB we would LAUGH at.....they got rid of Kelly...bring in all new...and seem to be off to a great start with a rookie QB....rookie head coach...and a new d coordinator.

Jason Garrett is in the top 7 of tenured coaches in the NFL...and all of them except 1 in the top 7...have won Super Bowls. His PROCCESS has been given LONG enough to bear fruit!

well if you're speaking specifically to the development of Dak, that should go to Wade Wilson

I'm not sure about that. Wade was gone during camp and he hasn't exactly groomed Pro Bowlers behind Romo. In fact, I would be willing to bet he wouldn't have lasted more than a couple of years under Belichek. The results just arent' there.

Chips fast paced offense found early success and then it crashed and burned. His offense was not producing and his defense was sucking wind because they were constantly being sent back out onto the field. He came in with a college program and game plan and it worked just as Washington did with RGIII and then the league caught on and they crashed.

Building and developing is a process around the league. Saying something is a process does not mean that expectation for turning things around fairly quick should not be expected it should be. I'm not giving Garrett a pass, his job is to win games and I think he is on his last leg.
