Should Jerry Jones bring in an offensive consultant for Jason Garrett now?

No, I think he is too predictable.
He's a young guy with old ideas and doesn't seem to try and throw any wrinkles in. When something works in one game he seems to go to it in the next and the next game.
The other teams aren't idiots .

I don't know his work habits ,but I think he has to think out of the box a little more.

Progression, to Move froward . Status quo does,'t work in the NFL.

We need someone who can stand up in front of Garrett and tell him... hey wake up, you are stobburn with you play calling and don't adjust to the other team.... Just ring the bell sometimes to wake him up...

im just kinda wound up today, its a new year, and we need to do some serious thinking about our playcalling, coaching staff etc. So, im asking questions, thoughts, etc.

So, im getting fired up for this year, hopefully for a very good nfl draft, a trade or two this year, and signing a very good free agent.

You dont think that some of the players need to work harder in the offseason Hostile? Remember Tony Romo said a few players needed to really work their rear ends off like the rest of the team has. Even M Bennett said he needed to improve on things. Ogletree said he was going to hit weights harder etc and he looked very hungry.

I think if we can get a few players to make the step up like mike jenkins did from year one to year 2 and like spencer stepped up, then we can vastly improve.

To me, Doug Free needs to get alittle bigger and stronger, while keeping his speed and athleticism. Bennett needs to become more serious about route running and the game. Scandrick will be in his 3rd year, he needs to become our other best cb, so newman can move to cover the slot. Mike Hamlin, Brandon Williams, Stephen Hodge, Robert Brewster all need to improve too, while Ogletree gets more timing down on deep posts routes and other routes with romo. And we need to do something with Roy Willams, he needs to step up big time, while Hatcher needs to really step up.

then, if we have another really good draft, maybe with a good OT and dez bryant, (the cowboys did look at him 2 weeks ago really heavy reports were along with 2 OTs in upcoming draft), and a top free agent, along with a very good kicker with a very good elite kickoff and punt returner, then the sky is the limit.

Garrett needs someone experienced calling the plays. He is not a good play caller.

I agree he can't call plays well. But if you bring in someone to call the plays for Garrett, then he is a lame duck that needs to be fired...like Stewart who needed to be fired once Wade Phillips took over for his lame duckness.

i understand hostile, i am trying to find it where he told me, but on thefan, cowboys flag ship station, they are saying that jason garrett should have an offensive consultant to help him.

They arent sure who, but thought that would be worthwhile to post. What gets me hostile about my friend larry. I even gave him a notebook with a pen and pencil to write this stuff down, when and where it was said, etc on what site.

I just called him and said hope ok to say hostile, that larry is being called out, to prove what he said is true. I do agree with you, he needs to back up with what he says. I am trying to get him to do that now.

He is chicken to post, he says when he would get blasted, he would reply back with some nasty stuff and get banned. All it is, he is chicken !

I am trying to challenge him now, sometimes he comes up with some good stuff like you do, and to get him to post. Kinda like we said last year with the cowboys, no more excuses. No more for larry too, either do it or shut up you know.

No he needs an upgraded O Line and one more WR.

I agree with that. A speed receiver and a replacement or two in the o-line makes this offense more efficient. They move the ball but the points didn't equal the yardage.

As far as someone helping Garrett: why? So we can generate 7,000 yards? This was the first team in Cowboys history to gain 6,000 yards. With Garrett calling plays, the offense has been near the top of the league for 3 straight years. Just like Jerry is keeping Wade as head coach and DC, he should continue to let Garrett run the offense.

With the continuity in coaching and a few tweaks to the talent via the draft, and the improvement of some young guys from the past year's draft, the Cowboys are likely the favorite to win the division in 2010 and therefore a contender come tournament time.

I think you are making the point about him needing some veteran input. His best season was 07 when he had Sparano helping him out.

Until Garrett proves he can make game time adjustments, I am all for bringing in someone to help him out.

Who cares if Dallas was 2nd in the NFL in yards, it didnt translate into points. To me being 2nd in yards and 14th in points suggests there is a problem.
