Should Micah get rid of the Podcast?

This has been a heated debate among Cowboys fans, and us feeling like he's focused too much on his podcast when his focus should be on football. Personally it doesn't bother me if he has a podcast or not, because other players are engaged in the same things or are doing other things outside of football. What bothers me is that he's talking about other teams/players etc when he maybe he shouldn't be until after the season.

Example was right before our playoff game, the Browns had a play where one of their defenders showed a lack of effort, and Micah got on that player for doing that. Karma came back and got Micah in his game. I think it's best for him to do his podcast, but maybe not be so harsh on players, knowing that he's not perfect himself. Please give your thoughts. Keep it, lose it, or I could care less!!!????

Will Zim recommend that he gets rid of it???? Micah said he wants to be all about football, so we will see!
Nope. He can do what he wants in his spare time.

You bet. It’s bleacher report. The darn set looks like it’s on NFL today lol

Appreciate your willingness to check it out. We live in a world of sound bytes and clickbait.

In this interview, there’s a bit where Love says “you had a DB playing linebacker and we knew that and planned for it”. Micah says something like “yeah, you’re right”, which is the type of comment a host makes to keep the conversation moving forward.

Fans blew that up as “MICAH DRAMA!!!”

We should all explore more and not just take the word of thread titles here at The Zone as a basis of rational thought.

thanks , I will watch this. I have open mind and not sensitive to anti cowboys statements lol.
Some people here act like the cowboys are their family members and you cant say anything negative about them, not even another player like micah.
who is being honest when he says stuff, it is just what he thinks.

explain to me why is it called a podcast?? isnt that what they called just audio shows?

It’s like people want players to stab opposing players in the eye with a fork on sight.
lol yes many here do think that, they hate other teams and the players on them too and I wonder if they met those guys in person would they
attack them in some way.
For the most part other teams are just other teams, even div rivals I dont hate them.

The term “podcast” started 20 years ago, or so, and was essentially a way to describe audio broadcasts on the internet that originated with the “iPod”, which was essentially the recorded medium where digital recordings were captured

Think albums -> 8 tracks -> CDs -> Podcasts (mp3s)

The device used for those mediums I just listed would have been something like this.

Record player -> 8 track player -> cassette deck -> cd player -> mp3 player (iPod)

Once music, audio and video became truly digital and available through the internet, as opposed to vinyl or tape or disc, people started just recording and sending stuff through the web. Some of the early ways to share information in the internet age was through audio “podcasts”. The term “download” was also used around this time.

And the terms just stuck, long after the internet exploded into things like YouTube, live “streaming” broadcasts like “Twitch”, etc.

So, basically, the term “podcast” had essentially evolved to describe any digital (internet) based medium of communication that can be audio (and there are still some of those out there), recorded video recordings, and actual real-time live stream broadcasts that are then saved and made available on demand.

Nowadays, many people who want to be “out there” on social media will have a livestream show (think ESPN sport center) that is also recorded and available “on demand” through the internet.

The media shorthand for all of these internet/streaming shows has just kept the description as a “podcast” even though no one really uses the actual iPod devices anymore.

Anything you may see on YouTube, or elsewhere, that has some person in front of a camera talking, sometimes with “guests” and sometimes just themselves, is now often just called a “podcast” by default.

I’m a bit older, meaning I knew a time before the internet (ha), but let’s face it, the last few generations of Americans live in a truly digital age where social media like TikTok and YouTube and Twitter and Twitch are all they know. None of them would even dream of watching news on the TV. Most of them don’t watch TV at all. And radio? Forget about it.

Even “old” social media like Facebook is ancient history to them and only something they use to let grandma know what they are up to and maybe post some pictures of their kids.

Hope this helps. Not trying to explain stuff you may know but I thought I’d over explain rather than under explain :)

Sadly, the average length of a player's career in the NFL is roughly around 3 years; The players are well aware that the next play could be their last of the season or even worse. With that being said, I applaud Micah and every player that has the foresight and capacity to tap into other revenue streams, just in case their career ends sooner than expected.

Podcasts are the norm now among athletes. Draymond Green always running his mouth. Gotta learn to deal with it. It’s a business for them and the make money off advertisers. Athletes and former ones provide a lot of insight into their world. “All the Smoke” with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson is really like that.

I don’t think Micah should give up the podcast unless very other player on the team gives up their side gig. I don’t think it’s fair to hold Micah to a standard that all the other players don’t have to. This is coming from someone who thinks his podcast is annoying. But he has the right to do it IMO.

Ideally I wish the Cowboys organization starting from the top would cease all side gigs during the season and concentrate completely on football. That’s what I wish would happen but I know it won’t.

I agree an hour is too long!

Doesn’t he know his audience has a short attention span?

Completely unrelated, but hey, it’s a Cowboy Song!

It would be nice if his off the field activities were quiet. It's like when Ace went on TV instead of just switching titles and quietly running the casino. He can do all of the podcasting he wants when his career is over. It's not a new problem, though. Even Troy Aikman tried to make a country album back in the day. It seems like the evolution of social media. Everyone has an opinion. Why not post yours on TV/podcast.

I also just watched the sas / micah show posted here, and it is about 1 hour, but was a good show, and micah is honest in his answers.
SAS asked a lot of questions we bring up here.
