Polly is a good player, but I've never been as high on him as some/many were. I've always thought he was replaceable, not the guy you give a big contract to. I was fine franchising him for one year, but no more.

I frankly think Schultz is a better overall player. He sure is tearing it up for the Texans, a huge part of their emergence as a possible playoff team.
Ferg def has potential to do what Schultz did/does, just need to be more consistent and get a really good rapport with Dak

Doesn't have the knack for creating separation that Schultz has. Not sure he has Schultz upside, questionable.

I was surprised to see they are actually the same size and weight (per espn)….Ferg just looked a little bigger on screen to me. He seems to be picking up some steam….we will see if it turns into something reliable.

I'm actually on the opposite end on that count. I think Ferguson has shown far more ability after the catch than Schultz ever did. Yes Schultz was cleverer about getting open but that can be learned. Ferguson's run after catch ability cannot.

Not so easy to learn. If it were that easy, then every TE w/ quick feet could do what Witten did. It's a knack.

Schultz was better after the catch. Dude was an eel out there. I know, I know, you hate Schultz, everyone does. It was one of the strangest things watching most on this board fall for the hoopla that he wasn't good. Fergie is a better blocker, but Schultz actually wasn't a bad blocker. He missed a couple of really bad ones, so everyone just thought he was terrible at it. He was adequate.

I like Fergie. Good, hard nosed player. Should be adequate at TE.

I think it’s worth a shot, don’t think it would hurt….Rico runs more like Zeke in terms of aggression and power (not the same, but more than Pollard)…..still splitting carries of course, but changing it up. Carolina a good team to try it on lol.
fans have been screaming for Pollard to be the starter for at least two years. Many claimed he would have 1200+ yards if we feed him the football enough and now fans want Rico Dowdle playing ahead of him. lol I said two years ago fans weren’t going to be happy with him as the starter with a heavier workload. I was told by many he would be breaking long runs all the time.

Someone already suggested how each player is properly used could possibly improve how effective the run game can be.

I guess I thought the offseason Run the damn ball and rest the defense would have included an effective run scheme to be used.

It's almost like McCheese/Schott/Solari have absolutely no clue on how to call a run game.
Like just some random runs with no flow or complimentary element to the personnel or scheme.
Pathetic.

An effective run scheme needs an effective runner. A plow, not a gazelle.

We made a similar mistake in 2015. We ditched DeMarco Murray thinking that Joseph Randle could take over a full time role. Think we wound up with McFadden as insurance.
