Should Sean Lee Try To Play Or Get Season Ending Surgery?

A few thoughts on this question:

A) Pretty sure it's not really up to him -- medical staff will make the final call
B) If there is any chance of further damaging the wrist if he plays injured -- he should go on IR. The Cowboys aren't going to be making a run a the Superbowl this year
C) This sucks. Lee is such a playmaker. Losing him is going to hurt. We dont have a lot of above average talent on defense and losing Lee is could be the leak that sinks the ship.

Play through it.

IIRC, Patrick Willis has played through similiar injuries in the past. I know he's rocked a club on his hand twice in his career with the 49ers.

I would shut Lee down now.

How effective could he be with the club and why risk further injury/not having him ready for next season?

If the Cowboys were a Super Bowl contending team this year, I would say play through it 100% but seeing as how they may not even make the playoffs, I say put him on IR.

That's what I'm thinking too. We don't know how severe the wrist injury was. I saw him with a heavily wrapped splint on his wrist on the sideline. But if it was a badly displaced dislocation, that means that it would've required a reduction immediately. (I'm a medical coder and read ER charts for a living - over 100 of them everyday).

All it takes to win a super bowl is making the playoffs and getting hot just saying.

I think if he can play through it then he needs to because Brooking and James simply won't cut it.

This.

If there can be further damage, then take the surgery. If he's going to be okay but just a little uncomfortable, play on, brutha.

That would be my take as well.

If the doctors do not feel this will lead to further damage and Lee can manage the pain then he should play.

He should play, it's just his wrist, he can play with cast on it

Jones and Brooking are too old to cover anybody.

I hope we get to see Bruce Carter next sunday

My opinion as well. Look this team has a chance to win their division. If he can play through this injury than I say go for it.

No one on this board has the information to answer this. Silly question.

We are 3-4. It isn't like we are 0-7.

Nah he should let the fans decide regardless of the effect on the rest of his life!

We need all the information on this before you could answer a question like that.

This is not a minor injury and when you look at the fact that it has put other players out for the entire year (guys like Urlacher) then that gives you some perspective as to how serious this type of injury can be.

Is there a report saying he needs surgery? Everything I've read has said he does not require surgery and now it's just a matter of deciding if he can hurt it more while playing in a cast.

Bah, give him surgery anyway. I'm sure he they can come up with some reason to cut him open. It's what the fans want, after all.
