Why is this a dumb thread? All I'm is a simple question just answer yes or no simple as that.

You could very well have a recipe for a delicious pumpkin pie in the OP, b/c the thread topic itself is so void of any common sense most people probably didnt read it

What is your problem? Just answer the question if you don't like the thread then why post in it?

I don't think it's a dumb thread but maybe some do because perhaps they feel the Cowboys will hard pressed to find a better option than Jenkins. And judging by Jerry's drafting track record over the last 16 years (even with some recent improvement) that train of thought may be correct. I don't like Jenkins much. He lost me in Green Bay, I don't forget that kind of thing over night. I think he's a punk and I don't like punks!

But I guess i'm dumb, right!

The "kind of thing" that happened in GB is the same "kind of thing" that happens damn near every week in the NFL.

Well if that's the case then I guess it's makes it OK then doesn't it? Gotta love that way of thinkin'!

The only "way of thinkin" i love here is the logic you use to take my comment and turn it into me accepting what he did. Of course he messed up on that play. But if you think he hasn't been busting his arse on that field most of the year you clearly haven't been watching. He's been giving great effort imo, just hasn't been making good reads or getting alot of safety help. If it was a problem of effort you'd have seen it addressed by JG already.

He admitted he quit on the play. Mike Jenkins and Antonio Cromartie are the only players I've seen quit like that. All of the analysts aka former professional football players that saw that were disgusted. It doesn't happen every week.

With that said, we can't cut Jenkins. He's simply too talented. He does need to pull his head out of his rear though and play better next season, or else he may not be a Cowboy anymore when his contract expires.

What else was I supposed to think after reading that post?

You won't hear it from the coaches but I suspect he was read the riot act after that last play a repeat from his rookie year.

I wouldn't tolerate that.

His overall play is another issue. It's really impossible for a fan watching on TV to know what's going on. Yes you can tell if someone's beat on a one on one play. Much of the time it's difficult to know the assignments. I think most people would agree he's really had a down year even with the appearant lack of help at safety.

No matter all the above, we only carried 3 CBs on the roster this year. Yes, we had the possibility of Ball and also AOA. But in reality we only had three. That's a very poor decision by management. All this to say we need another CB on the team. Look for one or two to be drafted with the distinct possibility of one being taken with the first pick. I'd also like to see a FA and UDFAs brought in. The position needs competition.

Now clearly Mike Jenkins has been nothing short of awful this year. Missed assignments, poor coverage, poor tackling, poor effort, penalties you name it he's just had a bad season. While he wasn't as bad this year in his rookie year he still didn't play that well. Their was a play during the Green Bay game in which Jenkins essentially quit and let a Packers reciever score. Some called for him to be released then. It's not a matter of talent I think he is talented it's just about putting that work in and becoming a better football player. He had a great year last year and made the probowl. He wasn't great as far as locking his reciever down but he wasn't terrible either, he made big plays for us as far as interceptions last year Jenkins had 5 on the season. This year he only has 1 interception. He's a big reason the Cowboys secondary has been just awful argurably the worst in the league. The question becomes do you cut Jenkins or hope he has a bounceback year in 2011-2012 if there is football next year?

Do you enjoy the punishment you get w/ each of your threads/posts here at CBZ? For someone who gets bashed constantly, you sure do love posting the same style of garbage.

Must not watch alot of football then. I see many CB's who subscribe to the "Deion" method of tackling. That is to say, make a half hearted effort and usually don't even get close to bringing the ball carrier down.

I was simply stating that it happens more often than you think, and the guy doesn't deserve to be cut or judged based on one play. His effort the rest of the year has been good. Even back in the last days of Wade when the entire defense quit on themselves i still saw Jenkins going hard. He has just been off in his reads and out of position alot this season it seems. I have no doubt though, that if he doesn't ever regain the form that we all saw last season, it won't be because of lack of effort.

Half-hearted effort is far more effort than Mike Jenkins gave on that play. Jenkins actually avoided contact. Deion would at least try to slow people down, but Jenkins didn't even want to touch the guy. There's a reason he got roasted over that play, and no other player all season on any team has had their effort questioned like Jenkins has.

You give him another chance, fine.

I would've cut him after the GB game because this is the 2nd time now to flat out quit on a play ('08 vs. Giants). I also heard that he slacked off his training last off season, it's certainly showing. I think he's a really immature guy.

To each his own.

Actually i believe the very next week a Jacksonville DB did the same type of thing. Not sure of his name, but it was all over NFL Network during Gameday Final.

Either way, what's the difference between giving half hearted effort or doing what Jenkins did? Either way you arn't giving your full effort into making the play. Equally unacceptable imo.

It was one play. As i said, Jenkins has given just as much effort if not more than the rest of his defensive teammates all year. People just need to move on and realize CB's don't give their full effort in making tackles alot of times throughout the course of the year. Just let it go. It was a mistake, he admitted it, took the blame, has given good effort the rest of the year, lets all move on.

Edit: Also, since that play, Jenkins hasn't even been one of those "Deion" type tacklers. He's been sticking his nose in to help out stopping the run just as much as Newman. Again, he gives good effort. It was one play, mistakes happen. They shouldn't sometimes, but they do. Lets not dwell over it or blow it up into some huge deal. He's a good player who's had a bad year, but has kept fighting and playing hard for us. He'll improve next year im sure.

You can just admit you want to cut Jenkins. Nothing will happen. I assure you.

if dallas had a the right mentality from the defensive sideline players wouldn't bail out

quiters come with stupid coaches and teams without accountability
