Should The Cowboys Cut Jenkins?

Now clearly Mike Jenkins has been nothing short of awful this year. Missed assignments, poor coverage, poor tackling, poor effort, penalties you name it he's just had a bad season. While he wasn't as bad this year in his rookie year he still didn't play that well. Their was a play during the Green Bay game in which Jenkins essentially quit and let a Packers reciever score. Some called for him to be released then. It's not a matter of talent I think he is talented it's just about putting that work in and becoming a better football player. He had a great year last year and made the probowl. He wasn't great as far as locking his reciever down but he wasn't terrible either, he made big plays for us as far as interceptions last year Jenkins had 5 on the season. This year he only has 1 interception. He's a big reason the Cowboys secondary has been just awful argurably the worst in the league. The question becomes do you cut Jenkins or hope he has a bounceback year in 2011-2012 if there is football next year?

posts like this make u scratch ur head. does nobody remember newmans 2nd and 3rd yr? the guy was burnt like toast on a consistant basis

And there is a good portion of posters here who have never gotten over it.

No, I think corners tend to look much worse than they are when they lack good safety help. I think there's a pretty good chance he can regain last year's form with someone better than Alan Ball helping over the top.

not to mention how can any of our corners look good with this pathetic rush defense we have. We have zero pressure without blitzing and when we do we suck at it.

Newman had a pretty average year in 2004 (second year in the league), and he's turned out to be a solid corner for us. Why would we be willing to part ways with Jenkins just because he had a down year?

Although i have him as gone in my sig(dude has shown that he is lazy and definitely not disciplined, something i don't want on my football team), i have to realize that Jerry won't cut a 1st round pick in his what? 3rd or 4th year? I think he'll at least be back next year, however i want an open competition at all positions, but ESPECIALLY at corner.

If Jenkins can't prove he's better than Scandrick, or whatever rookie we bring in(hopefully Pat Peterson or Amukamara) then i'd shop him around and see if i can get a 2nd or 3rd for him and be done with him.

I think this board is infected by an opposing board virus considering the number of cut and trade threads on players having a subpar series of games.

Some of you or most of you in here need to lighten up, it's a question answer yes or no or don't open or post in the thread. Jenkins has been ****ing terrible this year and anybody who cant see that is blind. I don't see what is wrong with cutting him at all.

Yes lets cut every player who ever has a bad year...PERFECT sense thank you for shining your ever so [strike]bright[/strike] light bulb with me and the rest of the crew

LOL

By thread's end it wasn't his fault for a stupid idea, it was our fault for not liking the stupid idea.

Merry Christmas.

Exactly.

Besides, he will be a Patriot 2.3 seconds after he is let go.

Come on now.......
