exactly..So the great Tony Pollard finally got more chances to run. Great! But 8 carries for 22 yards, 2.8 ypc. 2 straight carries for no gain or a loss. Meanwhile until his last 3 attempts, all stupid "run into the middle of the Ravens' defense where the defense was waiting for him", Zekewas like 15 for 75, 5.0 ypc. Broke over 10 yard runs, made moves, and NO fumbles.
Yes the o-line played a bit better, Zeke benefitted, but then if the line was better why did Pollard do so poorly?
It's only one game, sure, but you can't take away Zeke's efforts this game, he did pretty darn good for running behind all backups but for Williams, himself hardly a Pro Bowler...
I get the production issues with the line but that’s not been the real issue with zeke. It’s the turnovers and that’s on zeke, not the lineLMAO.. "he is running behind would be practice squad guys with bums at QB.." What's wrong with him? Anything for click bait I guess.
The fumbles are my biggest complaintWhat are the cap implications? That's the tricky part of this and it's unknown how the NFL/NFLPA is going to treat this upcoming season.
I still believe there's something wrong with Elliott. He doesn't have same snap and on this fumbles he was carrying the ball wrong and that's not his usual game. Don't know if this is a temporary thing, maybe a holdover from the summer, or a real decline but he's not the same RB.
Not true
he was running for 5.3 ypc through 3 qtrs against that ravens solid DL and our garbage OL... not sure why any fan thinks hes done..they wore him out this year being on the field to block like FB , pass routes and his own carries and hes still trying hard...
Accounting matters.Dead cap is dead cap. Sunk cost. Shuffling it around between years is accounting. Throwing more poor value money at Zeke to kick some of that can down the road just makes the cap situation worse.
2021 is *already* guaranteed, but we have to guarantee 2022 to get it.
Basically, we get the next 2 years for the price of 2022. 12.4 total, so 6.2mil a year. Zeke's play *this* year would not justify that.
Under 4ypc and a fumbling machine. What part of that is worth 6.2mil/year?
For all those complaining about the oline, its run blocking has been ranked highly, and Pollard is 5.0ypc. The oline is not making Zeke fumble.
At some point, the excuses have to be checked versus reality. Zeke hasn't just been not elite this year, he's been a poor back.
I wouldn't have paid 6.2mil for what Zeke gave this year. Would you?
He is rightI know your a RB apologist but if your comparing 2014 to 2015 when McFadden played with garbage at QB after Romo got hurt and didnt even play 16 games (10) its not apples to apples. i do understand your point about fans always wanting the back up but this argument dont hold water
Agreed. It's much appreciatedyes this place has become a bunch of jaded karens looking to find anything to beat up their team about, wish for losses, and praise other teams and players..sad era we are in..
i do my best to be the choice of reason and find balance in this place..
I think Zeke is still a great back but McCarthy is not going to use him enough to justify the money. Running backs are not hard to find and personally I wouldn't invest big money in one. This year has been terrible with all the injuries on the OL and Zeke's sudden fumblitisShould the Dallas Cowboys Seriously Consider Moving on From Ezekiel Elliott?
by Rick Thomas on December 8, 2020
The Dallas Cowboys are experiencing one of the worst seasons in franchise history. Through 11 games, they hold a dismal 3-8 record, with virtually no postseason hopes. Pundits are eager to assign blame, pointing fingers at everyone from owner Jerry Jones to coach Mike McCarthy. A significant number of commentators have also highlighted Ezekiel Elliott’s poor year.
Some analysts have even suggested that it’s time for the Cowboys to move on from their star running back. Let’s look at Elliott’s NFL career, his poor performance this year, and whether Dallas needs to consider letting him go.
Dallas selected Elliott with the fourth overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. At the time, he was considered among the best running back prospects of the last decade. Not only was he fast and strong, but he also had a preternatural gift for pulling down passes — and blocking opponents. Those high expectations proved totally justified during Elliott’s rookie year.
That season, he made 322 rushing attempts for 1,631 total yards (best in the NFL), with 15 touchdowns and 95 first downs. He compiled a whopping 108.7 rushing yards per game, while also catching 32 passes for 363 passing yards. His dominant season earned Elliott both Pro Bowl and First-team All-Pro selections.
Elliott’s second season was marred by a six-game personal conduct violation. He bounced back in years three and four, racking up 1,434 and 1,457 rushing yards, respectively. The 2018 season also saw Elliott catch a career-high 77 passes, for 567 yards and an 81.1% catch percentage. Elliott earned his second and third Pro Bowl selections in those years, while once again leading the NFL in rushing yards in 2018.
Elliott‘s numbers this season have gone down significantly from his prior years. Through 11 games he has totaled just 707 rushing yards. He’s rushing for just 64.3 yards per game, down over 20 yards from his performance just last season. Meanwhile, he’s making just two less rushing attempts per game — not enough to account for such a big drop-off in performance.
Elliott’s yards per touch stat is also at a career-low at just 4.4 yards per touch, meaning he’s not making up for his lost rushing efficiency when it comes to receiving. That fact is borne out by Elliott’s 72.2% catch percentage, which is down significantly from his numbers in both 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, Elliott has already fumbled the ball six times, which matches his career-worst total.

That's what my ex-wife said. I wonder if she even realizes I am remarried and have 2 children. She has no clue....kinda like Jerry.Jerry says don't worry gang. We were just unlucky. Everyone is gonna come back next year and take it way more seriously. Next year is our year to shine. At least thats what Jerry says.
Accounting matters.
As does cost of replacement.
Zeke hasn't been nearly as bad as people like to pretend.
He still runs hard and with great power.
Last night he accounted for 95 yards.
Tony Pollard had 28 yards even though he played a lot.
There is a very real drop off from Zeke to Pollard.
I'd GLADLY pay 6.2M for Zeke. I'm not that happy about paying 12M but it is what it is and that cost isn't going away.
The stupidest thing Dallas could do is pay him 20M to walk away and make another 6M for some other team competing versus us next year.
Zeke would have had 200 yards for the Ravens versus our rush D last night.
I'm not going to argue with you when you are posting complete and utter nonsense. We can't get back what has already been guaranteed to Zeke, we can only decided how much *more* good money we throw in after bad.

YPC
2020 Zeke 3.9 Pollard 4.7
2019 Zeke 4.5 Pollard 5.3
At some point, the excuses and statistical cherry picking have to stop. Those are the complete numbers for the last two years. The argument is that Zeke can't produce because the oline can't block. It seems to block fine for Pollard.
Is 3.9 YPC worth 6.2mil/year?
