Should the Cowboys trade 2nd/3rd rounder for Dion Jordan?

Why was D-Ware available? Because you had a GM that miscalculated what the player was worth. Funny how this happens all the time around here.

Or I was just joking around to help lighten the mood...

Dolphins are not exactly the most well run organization. So them wanting to get rid of Jordan means he's either really really really bad news, or they just want more picks and are desperate. Likely to go up and get a good Qb.

Jordan is damaged goods, he was damaged goods when he was selected by the Dolphins. He had shoulder surgery after his last college game and was not able to lift all off season. His surgery wass more than a year ago, and he still can't lift. He is very weak on the upper body and can;t lift to strengthen it. He is the prototypical DE, but has no strength.

Ask yourself this, why is Miami giving up on him? Because of a new GM? New GM's don't hang around long by giving up on talented players, whether he drafted them or not.

Didn't like him coming out of college. Like him even less now. I think I'd pass. But if they want to trade for a 5th then I'd be down. Worth a shot at least, then.

I think some new GMs figure that it will take a long time for their team to be good, but they can make their mark early by the success of their own draft picks. The new GM won't get credit if Jordon has a great year, but if he trades Jordon for draft picks, then he can take credit for the success of his own draft picks. The more picks he has the better the probability of success

Don't seem to be a long list of teams waiting to do this, and it was announced a couple of weeks ago that he was available for a 2nd

Rather trade Claiborne for him. Jordan is still very raw as a pass rusher and instead of a 4-3 DE, may be more in the Karlos Dansby mold, a rangy but true OLB, with some pass rush ability. Jordan is great covering TEs and was a stud in coverage playing OLB for Oregon.

Since no other team has offered them a 2nd, I'd offer them a 3rd now (or wait until the draft when picks become a bit more valuable in perspective).

Jordan has the talent, but he wasn't much of a fit in that Dolphins Defense. I think Marinelli could work his magic with him.

Would you be opposed to a trade w/ the Dolphins for Dion Jordan?

http://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2014/2/28/5457620/eagles-dolphins-dion-jordan-trade-rumors

My thinking is this.

Trade your 2nd in 2014........and a conditional pick in 2015 (as high as a 3rd) like when the Cowboys traded for Charles Haley

Since this draft is deep in defensive tackles then perhaps the best way to fix this Demarcus Ware debacle is to trade for a similar player.

Draft goes like this.....

1st. Dee Ford (replace Spencer)
2nd. To Dolphins for Jordan
3rd. Dominique Easley, DT Florida or Kelcy Quarles, DT South Carolina or Ego Ferguson DT LSU

I think this could be one step in the right direction.

Comments?

Absolutely no way should the Cowboys make any moves that cost them draft picks. They have too many holes to fill and need all the picks they can get.

Dag, that is rough (wasn't aware of the injury history/strength issue). PASS

Maybe Chip Kelly can send away a pick for him. But he won't...he already knows him from Oregon.

I imagine Jerry is working with whatever little bird he has in Miami to figure out what is going on with Jordan. Definitely not a trade you make blind, but if they're shopping him due to internal politics or strife you have to consider it with such a talent poor defence.

Marinelli can find a use for this guy, as a Leo or a nickel rusher, or at Sam, or all 3.

Maybe the guy just can't play though, I didn't watch him last year so I can't say.

Good to know. I heard he couldn't keep any weight on and not being able to lift is a good reason for that. At his size now he seems like a tweener, no defined role. What was the guy from PennSt? Maybin, he bounced around because of his potential, but he never stuck.

More like Gholston at this point.

I would kick the tires, but not with a pick on the first two days. Also, if we did this, it would mean no taking a chance on Easly.

You do make some good points. I forgot about the whole shoulder thing he had going in last years draft. Looked it up. Torn labrum. So he is a year coming off surgery. I'm starting to think the Cowboys are moving away from taller/speeder rushers and are going to move to guys like Scott Crichton, DE Oregon State

The way this team has wasted second round picks the last three years, why not?

Seriously though, do we still have a good relationship with Jeff Ireland? If so, call him up and get his take. It may just be that the new regime doesn't like the fit.

Boys might be interested but... not at that price, I hope! A 2nd AND a conditional 3rd? No thanks. 6th or 7th rounder... sure. Like others have said... something not right if you are already giving up on a top first round pick.
