I am to the point it doesn't matter.
For the fans that want to tank that answer would be yes.
For those that feel there is still a chance to make the playoffs, that could be a no.

If Martin does have a medical issue (back) then he may fail any physical anyway. Who knows. I would be fine with it if we get something from it.

I get why you ask but no. Probably couldn't get much for him and I'd like to see him stay a Cowboy.
Of course, and that's fine for fans to feel that way. However, when your GM feels that way and acts on it, you don't get better. A GM must absolutely be able to make business decisions, especially w/ personnel.

First step: See what Cincy would offer.

K, my apologies for my very bad attackful rant the other day. I hope you know I truly care for you like a brother.

Of course, but I never even saw it. I often don't go back to threads that are getting nasty in general. That has saved me a ton of silly bad feelings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the fans who would like to get into super bowl contention, a huge yes. Keeping aging players on non-super bowl competitive teams is what keeps them down.

The problem with trading Zack Martin at this point in his career is he is now clearly a shell of what he once was. I never thought I would see him getting bull-rushed regularly, his quickness gone, the need to hold because he can’t pass block like he used to.

It hurts me to say it because Martin is one of my favorite Cowboys all time. But trying to trade him now - we might be lucky to get a Day three draft pick for him.

If they can get something for him if he isn’t in the future plans then yes and for Martin if a team with SB hopes then it’s a win for him.
That's hilarious... we all know JJ doesn't know a thing about how to plan for the future for this team so that's a no. For a normal organization, yes, you are correct.

Honestly, what could they get for him with 11 weeks left in the season? The problem for Dallas is if he is not on the team and extended, which would be a huge mistake, it is going to cost them $27 million in dead money next year. If there is a reason why Dallas did not sign any free agents in 2024, Zack's dead money in 2025 is a big part of it.
Good points. Exactly why that decision to extend Dak/CD should have been made right after the end of last season instead of the day before the season begins. All this cap space now for....?

I'm all for trading away aging veterans, but the way they have handle the cap, makes it very difficult to make such a move. OL is always a position of need throughout the league, I'm pretty sure, we could get a day 2 pick if they traded him away.
I would think a 5th, but even if they get blown out the next two games, Mr. marketing won’t be sending the white flag message.

If it were a real front office that would spend the cap savings elsewhere and isn’t infatuated with corners, the guy I would move is Diggs. He would bring back probably a 2nd, then use the savings on the DL in the off-season. Couple that with Carson and Bland at CB and they are a better overall team, but they don’t think that way. They like to collect jersey sellers and they would have to eat a pile of #7s, plus Jerry probably likes Diggs personally.

One thing is for sure, if they insist on staying with the draft only approach, they need to find a way to accumulate more picks. They operate as if they will never bust any of them, and will also be a solid starter immediately. We see the effects of what happens when it doesn’t with Mazi and Guyton.

Expecting rookies to contribute like free agents is foolish, but that’s what you get when those decisions are made by fools.

This was what Belicheck was good at. He had a way of trading aging vet players away at the right time. And got a good player and / or draft capital as well.
Of course it helped they were coming off of SB wins. So those players seemed to have some quality playing time left in the tank.
