Should the NFL just cancel the Combine for Pro Days?

I would simply uninvite any player who refuses to work out. Or make a full work out part of the conditions of attendance. I would much rather have a guy in-house who WANTS to show what he can do than a guy who is making a business decision.
How would you do that? Some are coming off an injury? How would you know if someone is faking an injury. Can't run my quad is too tight.

Yet all 32 teams will be sending multiple representatives to attend the Combine.

Maybe it's only a big deal to you?

They should force these players to participate in the combine, unless they have a legitimate injury or illness that can be verified.

I agree the most with this solution, Caleb Williams should be banned from ever playing in the NFL for not agreeing to throw 13 exhibition passes
Employers make the rules, worker ants jump through hoops. If the employer decides to give up that positioning than that’s on him/her/they/them.

People just need to be smart and understand why players are making certain decisions. If you have a big fatty like Mazi and he only wants to do stuff that will make him look good you make note of it. Ask him why. If he gets defensive make note of it. If there is another fatty who does the best he can even though he knows that it isn't going to be a benefit to him make note of it. Perhaps that fatty is a better fatty because he cares about more than just his own big fat self.

I agree, but how would you know?
Anyone can say the pulled something, rolled an ankle, stressed something, while preparing for the draft. Then they wait and showcase at their Pro Day, where they can control the environment with less stress.

Pro days are famously sketchy. The workouts are rehearsed and the testing numbers are goosed. The Combine is apples to apples.

I just love it when a none existent player on film, climbs up the draft boards because of their measurables.

As long as we don't pick them.

It is all about $$$ like all sport events it is about entertainment and money .
The NFL is following the same track as they did with the draft.
Draft up till mid 90's was small.
Then over to the Paramount Theatre in the Garden. Then to Radio city music hall. Then to NFL stadiums.
Now lots of $$$$ in the owners pockets - outside the CAP.

Soon they will be selling tickets and closed circuit TV deals. Hmmmm.... Kind of like the Sunday ticket.
Get Sunday ticket - get NFL Combine free.
More $$$$ in the owners pockets - outside the CAP.

You see it all the time with QBs and how many GMs and coaches ignore all sorts of red flags because the kid is big and strong and can throw it 80 yds
Then you end up with a Jumungous Russel or Ryan Leaf or get blinded by those like Johnny Football
what is so important about any player is what is between the ears

Funny how GM's fall in love with QB's, who run around until someone is open. They start to get excited thinking that maybe that is how the play was designed and think they can do that 25 to 30 times a game.

Why would you invest $60M on a QB who wants to be a RB 50% of the time who is going to get hurt. The NFL made all these extra rules to protect the QB for a reason.

If you want to be a hybrid RB/QB, then pay them according because you are going to need 2 of them or give them much shorter contracts.

This just can't be said any better.

The shelf life of a running QB is 1-5 years or so. And then the injuries start piling up, rendering them ineffective. Why? Same reason they became a running QB to begin w/, they're not good passers.

if a prospect is dissatisfied with his Combine time and workouts and concerned that the combine numbers will bring down his draft stock .. he can have 2nd chance to make it up on his Pro Day

Combine is where most players can go and shine. Usually top talent can opt out of certain parts, but its a bad choice for many.

Looking through the news of several top players this year and in previous years opting to not throw/workout etc at the NFL combine, should the NFL consider just having team pro days?
Why? Dude, I know your trying to become a meme here but this is pointless even if you are just looking for people to give their thoughts.

No. Only the premier players or players from premier programs wait for pro days. The guys from smaller schools or less high profile programs that don’t have a pro day benefit greatly from the combine.
