Should They Go Or Should They Stay?

And he didn't mess with his mechanics, he tweaked his throwing motion. There's a difference.

Please elaborate on the difference - mechanics here to me means altering joint kinematics (movement of the joints in space) and kinetics (forces affecting the movement of the joints). These are sports medicine terms.

How one can change a throwing motion without affecting the mechanics is a bit of mystery to me.

Anyhow, the decision to alter Henson's throwing motion may not have sprung from Lee's brain, but the results of his work with Henson were disastrous. Whether Henson improved mentally from year one to year two I cannot say. I don know his ability to throw the ball with accuracy and velocity was dramatically worse this year in preseason compared to last year. Lee has to take some blame for that - this was his pet project over the summer.

Todd Bowles - defensive backs (stay)
Bruce DeHaven - special teams (GET OUT)
Gary Gibbs - linebackers (GET OUT)
Todd Haley - wide receivers (stay)
Joe Juraszek - strength and conditioning (Don't care)
David Lee - quarterbacks/offensive quality control (Don't Care)
Anthony Lynn - running backs (GET OUT)
Mike MacIntyre - asst. secondary/defensive quality control (Don't care)
Paul Pasqualoni - tight ends (stay)
Sean Payton - asst. head coach/passing game coordinator (Start the Steppin)
Kacy Rodgers - defensive line (stay)
Tony Sparano - running game coordinator/ offensive line (GET THE HELL OUT)
Mike Zimmer - defensive coordinator (GET THE **** OUT)

Well, IMO, it's common sense.

Mechanics covers the rotation of the hips, foot placement, bend in the knees, how far apart you feet are when you throw, etc...

Throwing MOTION is just the arm placement and how/where it leaves your arm when you throw it. Throwing MOTION is just one ASPECT of a QBs mechanics.

Todd Bowles - defensive backs Stay
Bruce DeHaven - special teams Can't Be GONE Fast Enough
Gary Gibbs - linebackers We Could Do Better...But Won't
Todd Haley - wide receivers Stay
Joe Juraszek - strength and conditioning Stay For Sure
David Lee - quarterbacks/offensive quality control Stay
Anthony Lynn - running backs We Could Do Better...But Won't
Mike MacIntyre - asst. secondary/defensive quality control ???
Paul Pasqualoni - tight ends BP Will Keep Him For Some Reason
Sean Payton - asst. head coach/passing game coordinator Stay
Kacy Rodgers - defensive line Stay
Tony Sparano - running game coordinator/ offensive line Can't Be GONE Fast Enough to suit Me...But BP Will Keep Him
Mike Zimmer - defensive coordinator Stay

Bottom Line on all of these guys is that none of them will do any better for us than Bill Parcells allows them to do. It is hard to judge any of the assistants with a Control Freak like BP in charge.

Keep:
Bowles
Lynn
Haley

Neutral:
DeHaven (he does okay for the most part)
Payton (he gets by with pretty marginal OL play for many years)
MacIntye (can't judge him)

Get rid of:
Zimmer (defense way too vanilla)
Sprano (can give him back TE coach is Pasqualoni sent packing)
Lee (messed with Henson's mechanics)
Rodgers (DL have not played up to potential for many years)
Juraszek (Get Woicik back)
Gibbs (not impressed with LB play here for many years)
Pasqualoni (don't know why he's here)
Was TOLD TO mess with Henson's mechanics by the Big Smelly Fish. And BTW Henson's mechanics NEEDED to be messed with...they were horrible. We will see this year in preseason if it worked or not now that Henson has had a year of getting plenty of work running the scout team. He should have been getting comfortable with the new motions...he was still thinking about them too much in training camp and preseason.

What amazes me is that so many people are saying that Bruce DeHaven should STAY. We have some of the worst special Teams in the league and have had since that squirrel got here. If we have any one single coach that needs to go it is that clown.

The word on the street is Henson has reverted back to his old throwing motion because the attempt to change it bombed so badly.

I guess we'll see in NFLE.

He has been good in some respects and poor in others.

The unwillingness of BP to bring in a quality kicker shouldn't be blamed on him.

I agree. I haven't had a single complaint about our special teams play since DeHaven has been here. We've had bad kickers... what's that got to do with DeHaven's coaching?

BOWLES - stays (starters played well; Reeves coming on; no FS development but we need FS on team before he can be developed.
DEHAVEN - stays (ST played better as season went on; PK not his fault)
GIBBS - stays (James looks good, Ware will be beast; Burnett coming on/moving to ILB replacing Dat; Fowler & Fujita showed improvement last few games)
HALEY - Stays (Crayton looking good until injuried)
JURASYEK - stays (guys were in shape; can't prevent some injuries)
LEE - stays (Bledsoe played bettter then expect but what about Romo & Henson?)
LYNN - stays (Barber really came on; Polite catches ball/runs/can't block; Thompson needs more experience)
MACINTRYE - don't care
PASQUOLINI - Witten a probowler but why can't he block effectively
ROGERS - DL a strength thanks to development of Spears/Canty/Ratliff & few plays we saw from Pepper Johnson; Glover & Ellis played well in 3-4; Ferguson did okay job at NT
SPARANO - out (OL was joke after Adams went down; other starters didn't step up; backups like Tucker & Gurode questionable; Pettiti regressed after bye week; center not our strength. WANT EXPERIENCED QUALITY OL COACH.
PAYTON - stays (hamstrung all year by lack of running game)
ZIMMER - don't understand what other teams see in him. Prefer get experienced 3-4 DC but he's probably back; hope 2nd year in 3-4 scheme moves from vanilla basic to complicated formations/blitzking packages combined with aggressive attacking defense. Do realize hard to have attack defense w/o FS & one Henry injuried, combined w/LB problems once Dat & Singleton gone plus DL didn't get QB pressure in last half of season.

Most of these coaches did there job but in some cases lacked quality player at certain positions; FS w/good coverage skills & speed makes big different in secondary. Quality starting OLB opposite Ware would be awesome. Quality DT learning behind Ferguson (whether Pepper Johnson or draftee) would be great. Better blocking from Witten & FB positions would help lots.

As long as Zimmer leaves and we get an experienced 3-4 DC i'll be happy but as i mentioned earlier theres a couple other Coaches that I would like to see get ****
