Why talk about what Denver did against San Diego? I thought it was pointless this early in the season.

It is pointless. But if people are going to talk about it, they should realize exactly what happened.

Two games into the season, it's pointless to start comparing what teams' opponents did to their other opponents.

For example, New Orleans beat Carolina, which beat New England. Does that mean New Orleans is better than New England? Of course not.

SD lost because Marty played "Marty-Ball". He did this in the PO's when he was coaching the Chiefs. Like Jim Mora (Sr.) Marty needs to learn how to play as if you are 14 points BEHIND when you are 14 points ahead. Did he think that rarified air wasn't going to take it's toll on his D in the 2nd half?

Running Ron Dane on the final drive was a play from the '81 Championship game we played in Candlestick. Only it was Bill Ring the '9ers used to zip down the field 15-20 yards at a time against our "prevent defense". Ring hadn't touched the ball all day except on that last SF drive. Was Shanahan an assistant w/ the 49ers at that time? I thought he was at some point in his career.

If we play well and Payton calls a good game, we should have a chance to beat the 'Skins. If Bledso gets knocked out of the game, our chances will diminish accordingly. It won't be the first time we've lost to the 'Skins, nor will it be the last, if we don't come away w/ a win...

San Diego blows a winnable game against a team that got nuked last week by Miami. Meanwhile, the Bears light up Detroit. Any chance that our victory was not as impressive as it seemed, since this may not be last year's Chargers? Conversely, any chance that the 'Skins victory against the Bears was more impressive than it seemed?

I don't know the answers, but I'm a little more worried about tomorrow's game than I was this morning (and I already had some apprehension). Am I just being a worry wart?

Don't know about the Chargers, but I watched a good bit of the Bears game, and I can tell you that the Lions just laid down and died... they gift-wrapped that game for the Bears, it had little to do with how well the Bears played... example-- on one of the five interceptions that Harrington threw, Roy Williams was SUPPOSED to run a fade into the end zone, but for some inexplicable reason broke off the route... you NEVER break off a fade, because you know the QB is throwing the ball to a spot, on timing... if you're covered, you're supposed to outfight the DB for the ball... and Roy had a significant size advantage over Vasher...

Clearly, that was a classic example of Detroit shooting themselves in the foot, not some great play by the Bears...

The Bears still suck, we just found out that the Lions were WAAAAAAAY overrated coming into this season... they stand a snowball's chance in Hades of seeing .500 this year... and Joey Harrington is really, really bad... in fact, top to bottom that division is completely pathetic... the easiest money you can make all season will be betting on the eventual winner of that division losing in the first round of the playoffs...

Denver is always tough to beat in Denver, especially vs a division opponent. I dont know how to react to that game.
