Yep, and Brown was a CB before moving to Safety. Both are cheap, unlike Law who is a risk on 3 fronts.

age
salary
chemistry

Pass.

I disagree with this. Law has already said that he is willing to lower his salary demands, stating that "it's not about the money." He wants to play for a contender. Period. If Watkins indeed has a bulging disk in his neck that may warrant moving him to IR, the Cowboys would be idiots NOT to look at Law. Even if Watkins stays, all that Law does is enhance our chances of having a strong secondary for the remainder of the season. He certainly doesn't lessen our chances.

There is a great probability that A. Jones might not make it back after Nov. 16 (which I'm hoping he does), and if he does, there is still the possibility he does not make it to the end of the season with us.

The fact remains that we are one injury away in our secondary at this point that could ruin us UNTIL Newman returns.

If you think that A. Ball is a better option than Ty Law, it might be time for a sabbatical.

Get back to me when his salary demands are not in the millions. He lowered them from outrageous to fat chance. Big deal.

You're the one claiming he lowered his salary demands. You produce them. I've seen no evidence of this claim.

Hostile is right in regards to ty laws contract demands, about how much last 2 teams he played for, the contract was sky high;

now at same time, he has played from what i saw till he got to kansas city, great, with jets and new england, but best i remember his first year he was leading the nfl with interceptions, but i think his last year, his legs caught up with him at 34,

im not sure about that, but if he was great and the money he was getting, why isnt he still with the team;

i do know he has demanded a ton of money, like 7 to 9 milion a year, i dont want to pay him that kind of money though

since i have been thinking about this, and generally hostile is right about players and the cowboys do need a safety due to watkins maybe not playing;

isnt dewayne davis, the guy that played at syracuse still on the practice squad, he was playing cornerback at syracuse i think, but he is better at safety

i sure wished we had kep olgesby instead of ball though, but the cowboys didnt, sigh

That's because no specific numbers have been printed yet. So the both of us have to remain moot on this point until some surface.

He has to know that no one in their right mind is going to pay him more than 2mil this year unless they're extremely hard up.

I could see a team like us giving him a prorated salary in the 1.5 mil range. Again, do you honestly see A. Ball as a better alternative than Law? I don't, and I don't think anyone in their right mind would either.

Last I heard he wanted 7 mill. If it is lower than that I have not seen it.

No he isn't.

Law has 18 INT's over the past 3 years, although 10 of those were in 2005 when he was with the Jets. That means that he has averaged 4 INT's over the past 2 seasons. That's more than Newman, and He's older than Newman!

The fact remains that, even at his age, the man has a nose for the football, which is more than I can say for Newman. And I like Newman.

Law plays big in big games. I've read that he holds the NFL record for most INTs in the playoffs.

If you put any stock in this I think you will be very disappointed. He has 2 chances of coming here.

Slim and none.

If it doesn't happen this certainly won't be to our virtue.

Idiocy? Yes.
Virtue? No.

Probably Ty Law. I'd just be cautious about what i'm really expecting out of a 34 year old cornerback.

still better than Anthony Henry...

Not Ty Law...but you could replace the entire Dallas Secondary with the Univ. of Texas secondary and probably win games. At least they can cover.

replace the Texas defensive staff with Phillips and Stewart, and see what happens.

Here's Schefter's article with quotes from Law:

Veteran CB Law wants to be a contender

Playoff contenders already have lost some quality cornerbacks this season. But now another one is volunteering to help.

After watching Dallas lose cornerbacks Terence Newman and Adam Jones to injury and suspension, and Green Bay lose Al Harris to injury, veteran NFL cornerback Ty Law said he would like to try to help one of those teams — or another playoff contender — at a position in which they could use it.
Law said he believes he could help Dallas or Green Bay advance to the postseason and the first Sunday in February. Law said Thursday he would welcome the chance to speak to either of those teams — or any other in contention.

Throughout the off-season, Law has spoken to a multitude of teams that included New England, Miami, the New York Jets and Cleveland, but at age 34, he would like the chance to play for one more championship and he is ready to sign.

“I can walk in now and play on Sunday,” Law said from Florida, where he has been training. “I just want to go out and play ball. I’ve been training to play, I’m ready to play, and I want to go play.”

Law said he now weighs 205 pounds, which was his playing weight for 13 NFL seasons. He hadn’t missed a game the past three seasons; the last one he missed was in 2004, when he broke his foot. Over the past three seasons, Law has intercepted 18 passes, giving him 58 interceptions — 52 in the regular season, six more in the postseason — during his career.

Asked about the idea of playing in Dallas, Law said: “That would be a great opportunity, to play for a contender. I just don’t want to play for anybody. I want to play for a contender, where I have the chance to go to the Super Bowl. I can help Dallas. I have the experience, I have been there before and I can help get a team over the edge. I’m not going to be a weak link for anybody and I’d love to try to provide some leadership for Dallas.”

Green Bay would have its own appeal. There, Law would be reunited with Charles Woodson, whom he helped recruit to Michigan. “When I left school early, he replaced me,” Law said. “We have a close personal relationship and that would be a great opportunity to get to play with him in Green Bay.”
Even now, Law would be willing to listen to offers he wouldn’t have during the off-season. “It’s not a money issue at this point. At this point, you just want to feel respected. But I’m ready to come in and help the right team.”

Sounds to me like reality has set in and Law would rather earn something rather than nothing with a chance to win another championshipo before his career is over.

I don't see the harm in taking a look at him.

If he shows he doesn't have it any more, the team can say "thanks but no thanks".

The same if his contract demands are outrageous.

But I see no reason to write him off based on speculation.

No stone unturned!
WHY NOT bring him in?
If he doesn't want crazy money, he's better then Jenkins is right now, RIGHT?
He's gonna be better then Scaqndrick, right?
So why not bring him im???
Hell, bring him in and put him at F.S. and let Hamin play S.S., at Laws age, a move to F.S. would be smart, and having Law and Hamlin at saafety, that's some serious coverage ability back at the safety position we've been missing.

Regardless, keep him at C.B., whatever, he's a good C.B., he can help us now and the rest of the season, he's a good leader, and he can only help, so why not try him out, see what he's got and at MINIMUM, take a look at him, leave no stone unturned!
