Should We Get Ty Law **Threads Merged**

Sign him up.

It'd be nice to have another veteran that can be a mentor to Jenkins and Scandrick.

Hey RealCowboy Fan, the NFL Network clip you posted does not mention Ty Law - what gives?

No thanks.

Hes just a development stopper.

We'll be glad we let Mike Jenkins & Orlando Scandrick go through their growing pains now and not later.

Yeah but think of what he brings to this team. A veteran who knows how to win, especially in the playoffs.

We will have plenty of time to develop talent. Do what we can to improve the teams chances of winning, I say.

Bring him aboard.

Veteran CB Law wants to be a contender

Playoff contenders already have lost some quality cornerbacks this season. But now another one is volunteering to help.
After watching Dallas lose cornerbacks Terence Newman and Adam Jones to injury and suspension, and Green Bay lose Al Harris to injury, veteran NFL cornerback Ty Law said he would like to try to help one of those teams — or another playoff contender — at a position in which they could use it.
Law said he believes he could help Dallas or Green Bay advance to the postseason and the first Sunday in February. Law said Thursday he would welcome the chance to speak to either of those teams — or any other in contention.
Throughout the off-season, Law has spoken to a multitude of teams that included New England, Miami, the New York Jets and Cleveland, but at age 34, he would like the chance to play for one more championship and he is ready to sign.
“I can walk in now and play on Sunday,” Law said from Florida, where he has been training. “I just want to go out and play ball. I’ve been training to play, I’m ready to play, and I want to go play.”
Law said he now weighs 205 pounds, which was his playing weight for 13 NFL seasons. He hadn’t missed a game the past three seasons; the last one he missed was in 2004, when he broke his foot. Over the past three seasons, Law has intercepted 18 passes, giving him 58 interceptions — 52 in the regular season, six more in the postseason — during his career.
Asked about the idea of playing in Dallas, Law said: “That would be a great opportunity, to play for a contender. I just don’t want to play for anybody. I want to play for a contender, where I have the chance to go to the Super Bowl. I can help Dallas. I have the experience, I have been there before and I can help get a team over the edge. I’m not going to be a weak link for anybody and I’d love to try to provide some leadership for Dallas.”
Green Bay would have its own appeal. There, Law would be reunited with Charles Woodson, whom he helped recruit to Michigan. “When I left school early, he replaced me,” Law said. “We have a close personal relationship and that would be a great opportunity to get to play with him in Green Bay.”
Even now, Law would be willing to listen to offers he wouldn’t have during the off-season. “It’s not a money issue at this point. At this point, you just want to feel respected. But I’m ready to come in and help the right team.”

Probably Ty Law. I'd just be cautious about what i'm really expecting out of a 34 year old cornerback.

Not blowing coverages. Knowing where to be, and being dependable to not make a mistake.

He's a perfect fit here IMO

On paper, it's an obvious move. Heck, he's rated an 86 in Madden. ;) I just don't know that a guy who hasn't played football all season can "step off the plane" and be an immediate contributor.

Again, sounds great. ... Until he's on the field Sunday and is burned repeatedly, leaving us to say, 'Oh yeah, this guy hasn't played all year.' And I don't know what real value he brings unless he truly is ready to play significant time immediately.

As far as the leadership angle, I doubt a guy that's signed midseason can come in and be a leader. I think leadership is earned after spending time with a group, not just given to you because of who you are. Zach Thomas said as much when he signed here, how he was kind of laying low for a while. Now, sure, Law's veteran work habits could rub off on guys intentionally or unintentionally. But if we're in need of leadership, we're not going to get it in the way of a street free-agent signing midway through the season.

According to Adam Schefter Ty Law is interested into signing with the Dallas Cowboys and if he signs this week he could play sunday. He also mention that Ty Law has lowered is asking price.

This guy has an asking price?

Ty Law would bring instant leadership back there in the secondary... Sign him for cheap, I'm all for it.

Yeah, a guy that has been waiting by the phone for a year is gonna really be guiding the light, telling everyone how it's gonna be! There is no reason to think he'd be a leader other than that he's old. It's gonna be hard to take him seriously in the locker room if he's gonna try to be the boss.

im all for it.

i saw him in his last season and the man can still play. i trust him a hell of a lot back there then 2 rookies

I dont think he's exactly going to be stealing tons of time from them.

He will be used in sub packages, and trusted to not make a mistake, which therefore will give us more flexibility in coverage.

Hell, if we took a chance on Pacman we can sure as hell take a chance on Ty Law.

I question if Ty Law has enough ability left to make any kind of difference.

At least ring him in for a workout and see if he had anything left.

I believe the Cowboys are really hurting at the secondary position and need more playmakers that can play and teach some of the younger players some new techniques and tricks to playing the position.

For the right price, I would love to see Ty Law in a Cowboy uniform.

Just imagine once everyone is healthy.

Terrence Newman
Anthony Henry
Adam Jones
Ty Law
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick

Which will be arguably the best secondary in the league that hasn't put it all together yet.

We won't need him then, we need somebody now. We have one vet and 3 rooks back there now...
