Should we start Rush or Lance vs Washington?

You make an interesting point, but one week to go in the season isnt when you make a scheme change. You spend all offseason installing your offense, its an extremely tall ask to overhaul that in a month nonetheless a weeks time.
Right now I am in favour of more stress on the current players, staff and mgmt to find answers. This season is thoroughly in the tank. Show us something to hope for.

Don't roll out the same old, same old. Right now I can see Washington wanting to just roll on us into the playoffs.

What is this team made of that is new, interesting and promising?

I think you have just given the reason why you want to give this game to Lance. One of the questions that should be posed is can MM develop a scheme that is friendly to a mobile QB who is less talented in seeing the field?

Fro some reason everyone is fixated on determining if Lance is in the QB room next year. I somewhat agree with this goal, but I think a more important goal for the team and mgmt is to determine the kind of QB we are looking for to develop. What kind of physical talents are we seeking? Mobility? Strong arm? Put Lance in and see how the coaches and the players respond to a scheme change.
NOPE quite the opposite this team is not full of strong players going into the last game and no way to judge lance, other than just to see him play, there is no other valuable reason to start him. too little too late is the 2024 mantra for this team..

To me I don't think Lance is the answer.

I just want to figure out what this team looks like in a different scheme. One with a mobile QB as the premise.

Right now I am sick and tired of watching this Texas Coast immobile, pocket style offence. I don't see anything threatening with it, and it looks worse with Rush' noodle arm.

I give him and the team full marks for the wins they have eeked out during the time Rush has been the starter, but we are not going to win a season long war with that solution.

So my question is what does the future look like, and how does that future garner us more success than we have had in the past?
Agree with concept completely, just not the timing. If they are truly committed to Dak I'm not sure how much the offense will really change anyways.

100% we should be starting Lance. We have to find out if he's worth possibly keeping in developing as a backup. At this point we know what Rush brings, we're out of the playoffs, and Rush is coming off a poor game. Perfect opportunity to evaluate Lance.
Not even, they knew when he played that last pre-season game that he just does not have it. (4 interceptions I think ? ).
Jerry is just trying to save face himself,
Lance will play a few snaps at the end of the game, and then be quietly released as his contract is up.
Why would they resign a player that would cost a fortune, a former #3 overall pick who won't play at all behind Dak - so, he's gone. The great Jerry failure will be over and he will wipe it under the rug.
It cost us a chance at a very good RB last year, that may have helped make a difference, much in the same way throwing away what will be a pick just outside the top 100 this year.
My thought is they bring back Rush. For another couple years - relatively cheaply, and plan to draft Daks eventual replacement in a couple of years.
Rince, repeat and have the same results as always. Nothing to see here - move along.

The continued overemphasis, concerning Dallas getting the 11th overall pick, has suddenly made me very interested in whether that will actually end up being the final selection. How will the forum handle a different result? Stay tuned for this and MORE on As The CowboysZone Turns.
If we could just pick a couple spots higher we'd be super bowl champs.

Everyone knows we have a tight well oiled machine of an organization we just need a couple spots higher in the draft and we good.

If Dak comes back and the recovery is a bit slower, then going with Rush is just turning the clock back. He's just another year older, and unless Britt Brown has some form of miracle pills I can't see his footspeed or arm strength getting better.

I would think it to be a serious error in mismanagement not to have a contingency in place for the first three to four weeks if Dak is not ready.

Have a plan B in place before TC. I just prefer it not be Rush this upcoming year. Bring in some young competitors.

What is up with this weird obsession with Lance? He’s a scrub and is lucky to be getting an NFL paycheck.

I think Lance should start. 1 vote for Lance and a loss to help our future and draft capital!!

1. I think Lance is a bust. He gives us a better chance of getting the #11 pick in the draft.
2. Let him play the whole game and see if he has any potential at all. He has shown very little potential for us or SF.
3. We know Rush is mediocre. Decent backup. Has very little ability to move around in the pocket and no ability to scramble for 1st downs. Accuracy is okay on short passes and poor on longer passes. Pretty good when he can throw to his 1st read, but below average if he has to go to his 2nd-5th reads.
Lance is a Bust.
Rush is an ok back up..........only.
Dak is a fraud and the rest I'm sure you've already been advised accordingly at least 60 million times.

I too think Lance is a total bust but it's worth retesting that theory. Worst case he repeats his preason finale performance and helps us get a higher draft pick.

Regardless I doubt he costs a fortune.

Lance should have started to play weeks ago.

But this is what happens when you have a lame duck coaching staff. McCarthy played Rush because he wanted to win to help his resume'. He could care less about Lance and any future comp pick Dallas might get for him because Big Mike is probably gone.

If Dallas played Lance a few games this year, some other team would think "we can fix him" and sign him in free agency. Then maybe Dallas could have gotten a comp pick back for him.

Now that is out the window and it's a totally wasted trade.

..doesnt matter anymore. Rush showed his usual back to form outing. Is he coming back? Who knows.

Lance is probably a DUD subject. Hope he was another Daniels Or VIck. Guess not.

I would play them both. Give RUsh 1st half, Lance 2nd.

I would give Lance the first half, Grier the second. See if one of them can potentially be the #2 next season along with a mid-round QB selection. Rush has no business being brought back IMO. I want QB2 to be developed into a potential starter and Rush isn’t it.

Actually Rush is not THAT bad if we look at him for what he is- a backup QB. He's someone that can come in and keep things afloat for a quarter, a half, or a few weeks (like he did in 2022).

If you ask him to start ten games and save a sinking season like this year, well, he's not that guy. But I would not be upset if Dallas brought Rush back because as a backup, he essentially did all he could this season.
