Should we start Rush or Lance vs Washington?

I think we should start Lance. I'm not talking about draft spot. He should get a full game to see if he's worth bringing back as opposed to just dumping him. We know what we have in Rush. We know what we have in Grier. We likely know what we have in Lance but why not use the game to make sure since Jerry already wasted that draft pick?

Lance, and he should've been starting all along. IF he can play, and I don't believe he can, we should've found out. He is not under contract next season.

I think Lance should start. 1 vote for Lance and a loss to help our future and draft capital!!

1. I think Lance is a bust. He gives us a better chance of getting the #11 pick in the draft.
2. Let him play the whole game and see if he has any potential at all. He has shown very little potential for us or SF.
3. We know Rush is mediocre. Decent backup. Has very little ability to move around in the pocket and no ability to scramble for 1st downs. Accuracy is okay on short passes and poor on longer passes. Pretty good when he can throw to his 1st read, but below average if he has to go to his 2nd-5th reads.
Will Grier is a good choice. It's clear the current choices are not the answer. The 49ers played Jerry and were last seen making a laughing gesture. I like Rush but he is pretty weak on the long passes. It makes no difference anyway because the brain trust is sure to make their typical divine manifestation, a reality, anyway.

"WE" do you mean your fantasy football team I mean by all means start trade Lance on your fantasy football team or maybe you can pull them onto your Madden team but they should've could've would've stuff is ended who cares what he does in the final game if we're gonna stay on course with what they've been doing they're not gonna start Trey Lance and by the way you trying to piggyback your other posts it's the same information isn't it you're just starting a whole new post...

Nobody is gonna play this game to lose it including Washington and Washington is a better team so they should just win by default so it doesn't matter what Mike McCarthy or Jerry Jones does or what our starting quarterback is we just saw that with Trey Lance have lost harder than Cooper rush did against Philadelphia I hardly doubt that we all wanna see Trey Lance but I don't think there's any way Dan Quinn wants to lose to the Dallas Cowboys backups two games in a row he will come out like the lions did against San Francisco last night and you won't have to worry about who the starting quarterback is....

Their game plan is gonna be to come out for blood in my opinion they're gonna be sending the blitz probably on 75% of the downs they're not gonna allow this Cowboys run offense to do what they did no matter who the quarterback is I mean think about Dan Quinn and all those ex cowboy players how embarrassed they were from the first game to get beat by our backups...

I’d would have been starting Lance for weeks

If you are failing in practice you are not magically going to turn it on in a game. Doesn't matter if you are 1st string or not. Players will still shine, just not at their full potential. This tells me he isn't even looking good in practice.
Romo and Brady played behind Bledsoe at one point to start a season. Mahomes played behind Alex Smith (right? He was still the QB there then for pretty much the entire season I think).

Why stop there? Start Zeke. Or some other backups.
Why not? Give them valuable game time experience. Since there's no playoffs to contend for, we should absolutely be giving game-time experience for evaluation and improvement. All the practice in the world isn't quite as good. If I recall, his first year Dak SUCKED in practices but played very good during actual games.

Yep! Give him a chance with starters.
Well then you lost that chance already come on dude we call those starters almost the whole entire offensive line from the beginning of the year to to right now our backups almost all are wide receivers are backups our running backroom looks like backups so start with the starters how so this has been a preseason roster for about 5 weeks now and it's been getting worse weekly I mean we lost to Philadelphia with two preseason rosters and people are making a big deal about it...

Trey Lance best option would've been to play with most of our starters but those are not here anymore I call this a preseason roster because that's what it looks like what we're rolling out there right now sands a couple players it looks like preseason and I find it hilarious that the Philadelphia Eagles and anybody who supports the Philadelphia Eagles think somehow they should be proud of the way they beat up our backups I find that hilarious it's not amusing except for I laugh because with our starters the eagles have a hard time beating us Prescott is 9 and three against the eagles he's 33 and eight against the NFC East so somehow you think Trey Lance with what we can roll out Sunday at 12:00 PM central Standard Time is "with the starters" as you say?

You wanna know what a backup quarterback looks like playing with their starters that would be the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday against us that's what it looks like to have it all in team a fully healthy team pretty much I mean I don't follow them that much they pretty much had their starters out there the entire game looking for a record and you just plug in a different quarterback and it hardly looked any different that would be what Trey Lance would need if we wanna see what he'd look like with a full complement of starters and a team that has enough talent on it to hide him they get it with Nick Foles and it was apparent that even Kenny Pickett was being overrated because their third guy was dropping Dimes as well that's because they had their full team that's what you call with the starters what we have right now is not a team full of starters....

Now that would be interesting to see what Trey Lance would have done with that eagles team last week then we would see if he could actually look like a poor man's jalen hurts because what I saw last week I mean is jalen hurts overrated because they might just have that type of system and talent on that team that maybe they should have paid jalen hurts 50 million plus because it looks like they could probably win with a lesser quarterback...hmmm

Lance.

Under this situation more questions are answered for the team, the mgmt and the fans.

With Rush it's just a repeat of the seasons that he was the starter when Dak goes down.

If you want answers to "new" questions like what does this team look like with QB mobility? What does this team look like with an RPO scheme? What does this team look like with a QB who can roll out faster? How does MM scheme a mobile QB? How does Solari scheme run blocking in an RPO situation? What does Dowdle or Turpin look like in RPO? What does our red zone offence look like with a QB who can gain the edge running?

These are questions we never had answered with either Dak or Rush. Putting in Lance is not a guarantee you will get all the answers or great answers to these questions, but putting Rush back in means you will never know.

I'm all for turning the page and taking a sneak peek at what a possible future could look like if the QB position gets younger and more mobile.

Heck, if the Broncos can do it, why can't the Cowboys?

You could be right so one of the questions you may pose with starting Lance is who would stand out on te offence and take a bigger role in making the QB position more successful?

Broadus mentioned in one of the podcasts that he had heard about Turpin making a comment that without Lamb out there this weekend it looked like the remaining Dallas receivers were just running routes.

Well let's see what the receivers look like with a mobile QB who has a live arm. Can we scheme his mobility with WR routes that gets people open and not just running around?

there's nothing to win here. if they don't use this as a pre-season game for lance to give him at least a chance, he needs to go. i don't care about lost picks and "wasted" whatever. those opportunities are gone and done.

what are we going to do from here?

my only guess is find new and incredible ways to screw up. 2024 will be a new measuring stick of stupidity for the cowboys front office.

I think you have just given the reason why you want to give this game to Lance. One of the questions that should be posed is can MM develop a scheme that is friendly to a mobile QB who is less talented in seeing the field?

Fro some reason everyone is fixated on determining if Lance is in the QB room next year. I somewhat agree with this goal, but I think a more important goal for the team and mgmt is to determine the kind of QB we are looking for to develop. What kind of physical talents are we seeking? Mobility? Strong arm? Put Lance in and see how the coaches and the players respond to a scheme change.

It would be fun to see Lance get a start, but honestly I don't care that much. Lance is most likely gone after this season and will compete for a spot with a new team.

You make an interesting point, but one week to go in the season isnt when you make a scheme change. You spend all offseason installing your offense, its an extremely tall ask to overhaul that in a month nonetheless a weeks time.

To me I don't think Lance is the answer.

I just want to figure out what this team looks like in a different scheme. One with a mobile QB as the premise.

Right now I am sick and tired of watching this Texas Coast immobile, pocket style offence. I don't see anything threatening with it, and it looks worse with Rush' noodle arm.

I give him and the team full marks for the wins they have eeked out during the time Rush has been the starter, but we are not going to win a season long war with that solution.

So my question is what does the future look like, and how does that future garner us more success than we have had in the past?
