Should we switch to Brooks Bollinger?

For today's game, Bollinger was upgraded to second-stringer.

I wonder if we should use him- he's younger, more mobile, and can move around in the pocket.

Should we make a temporary QB change?

Not to play booster for Brad Johnson, and I'm not, but the kind of timing-based passing system that Dallas runs on offense requires a lot of reps between QB and receivers to get in sync. Johnson has spent very little time working with the starters--even before last week's game, Romo was still getting some of the starter reps in practice to see if he could go. Johnson did not look good today, but he looked a lot better than he did against the Rams, and another week of working with the starters might bring greater improvement. I think you have to stick with him for now. If Romo will be out beyond the bye, you might consider moving to Bollinger after next week should Johnson not show improvement. Bollinger would then at least have a couple of weeks to work with the starters.

The real issue at this point is whether Dallas can recover short term from the mounting injuries/suspensions: Romo, Kosier, Witten, Felix Jones, Adam Jones, Spencer, Roy Williams, Newman, Henry, McBriar. There's five Pro Bowlers in there. How many teams can compete for long down that much frontline talent?

The good news, at least, is that the defense looked as good as it has since the opening game, and against a credible offense. If the defense can keep playing good ball, the team might get through this rough patch and still be able to compete down the stretch.

Yes! Bollinger should get a shot. If Garrett was smart, he would have had Bollinger study Giants for the last 2 weeks, nothing but Giants. Prepere him for just this one game. Start him unexpectedly vs. the Giants and let him go pass happy.

We need something to throw the Giants off.

I'd be willing to bet my house and what little savings I have that Brad Johnson will be the starter next Sunday against the G-men, not Bollinger.

It's a fruitless conversation. Brad is a weak QB, but he did improve from last week to this week, and he QBed us to 10 first half points, which for the record, is now the most points the TB team has given up in the first half through the first 8 games of the season. We can only hope the defense plays great again and that Brad makes just as much improvement this week.

We won't see Bollinger unless the game gets really ugly next Sunday.

1. The Giants will bring QB pressure, and we have to hit some slants to TO and Roy...we will struggle to run the ball.

2. Ware and company will not get pressure on Eli without some creative blitz packages...we need to stop their running game and use more zone blitz packages that almost resulted in int's yesterday.

I don't rememebr what year it was, but Dan Reeves was still the coach of the Broncos and they were playing the Cowboys.

During the game, Dan was switching QBs on drives. One drive it was Elway, the next drive it was someone else. I don't quite remember who the other QB was though.

Maybe the Cowboys could do the same against the Giants. Since Bollinger doesn't know the entire play book he doesn't have the play the entire game. Swtich them out like we do the running backs.

Brad may start against the Giants, but I bet he doesn't finish.

At some point, Bollinger will play on Sunday.

I'd rather put my chances in MBIII's hands.

Johnson may not be great, but you folks really want to put Bollinger in there against the defending super bowl champions in their house?

Bollinger's so good he was third string last week behind a QB that couldn't even grip the ball. Be careful what you wish for.

a smart coord would have his #2 QB getting ready for a team we're not playing? Wow, that's right up there with saving defensive plays for later in the season while we're losing 2 out of 3.

Bollinger is not that bad.

In 19 NFL games he has a 75.2 QB Rating.

Not great, but that includes his growing pains that year he started 11 games with the Jets.

Add to that the fact that he holds tha all time QB rushing record at Wisconsin, and he gives you a lot that Brad Johnson does not.
