Some of his play can't simply be attributed to poor surrounding talent. His ball placement (w/out pressure) was pretty poor throughout the game and he continues to make poor decisions with the ball.

This was his first offseason (IIRC) playing strictly QB again. I'd like to see him on the practice squad again.

he's the opposite of a gamer, all reports are that he was tearing it up in practice all summer and then as soon as the lights come on he shrinks. He had the excuse of not playing with starters the first 3 games, had time tonight to make plays and came up with some pretty bad throws.

I think the chances another UDFA QB like Romo is very slim.

Showers needs lots of work.Maybe they should see who gets cut from other teams and try them out .

But he wasn't playing against first teamers either, most of those guys on Houston's defense are going to be working at Home Depot next week and they were totally owning him.

Its not like JJ Watt was lined up across from Showers............he is just not an NFL QB.

He is a project, but again, a PC guy...

I'm sure Lowe's is hiring too if it goes that route for him...

Yes sir. The reports also had Russell kicking butt and Irving looking awesome. Freaking reporters are liars.

He looks scared to make a mistake. Can't play like that.
Yep...for everyone down on Dak, that was a stark reminder of what quartbacking looked like last year for the Cowboys.

He might be a PS candidate but I'm not confident he'll ever get beyond that. The NFL isn't for everyone.

I hope you see Romo placed in IR 8 game recall and Dallas carry Dak and Showers for the first game of the season against the Giants, then cut Showers and sign a veteran to back up Dak so his contract isn't a full guarantee for the year and then place Showers on the Practice squad..

By all means, keep the damn lights away from my house!

Maybe, maybe not. There is a big difference in practicing against a teammate versus another player who actually is competing against you.

If they combined Johnson and Showers they would have half an NFL QB.:(

why are we hearing so much of the "he isn't playing with the first team" excuse? well let me tell you something, neither is the other team!

If you wanna play QB in this league, you have to execute, make your reads, throw a nice ball, see the field under pressure. 2nd/3rd string offense or not, it doesn't sound like he can do that yet.

I like him better on special teams.
Sadly (because I like him), I was done with him last week during his second half tenure where I witnessed him lack the basic awareness to avoid the rush, end up in the grasp obviously going to the ground, and chuck the ball is up in the air in a horribly idiotic attempt to pass... it was ruled a fumble and recovered by the defense.

That moment turned me.

When you don't even get 2 seconds to throw the ball and you have to start running for your life at the snap, I would think it's
pretty hard to be an NFL QB. It takes about 2.5-3 seconds to read the defense and find the open man. By the way...none
of the WR's playing last nite could separate to give him even a small target. He may not be ready for the big lights yet though
I do think he has possibilities of being a backup QB in this league for awhile if he wants.

that goes to show how absolute terrible our depth is since our backup oline can't hold back scrubs and our backup WRs can't seperate from scrubs....

as far as Showers being ready, that is why I said "yet". Right now, he is NOT ready and we need a backup. problem is is no one, like Austin Davis for example, is gonna sign knowing they will end up 3rd string before the year is out. So we should hope Dak doesn't get injured.
