Dwayne Harris made it through waivers and he had a ton of talent, so him not being claimed means little. I'm just hoping he shows something so we don't have to waste more picks, whether through a trade or the draft, looking for a backup QB.

I seem to recall he made it through twice

I am glad to hear Showers is still a cowboy. He never had a good chance this off season. I still have faith he can develop into a decent player.

Sanchez is a vet. Showers is a project. Sanchez is not very good. Showers is not very good. Showers may be better next year. Sanchez will still be bad.

Showers can get a lot better and still not make the roster. He's got a long way to go. And those guys are a dime a dozen in the NFL.

Good. He's got workable tools. It's just a shame they've brought in one of the worst quarterbacks in the league in Sanchez to act as a progress stopper.

I kinda wished we wouldve added a different QB to the PS, I see no upside to Showers at all. Not an NFL worthy QB.

Showers is a project for sure but nobody knows for sure when the light might come on for a QB prospect. Jameil will be afforded the opportunity to find out and that's all he could ask for, outside of more patience from the fans. He's raw yet and it might take more time. It could be very helpful if he eventually improved enough to provide his team with a reliable backup for the long term. Stranger things have happened.

If we're not going to play him, effectively, as our QB4 (Romo, Moore, Prescott) in year two, we're going to make him our QB2 in, what, year three? Four? Why not just add the next Sanchez next year if we need another one and use the PS spot for a DL or another S?

We need a QB on the practice squad to run the scout team...duh. When you carry only two healthy QBs on the roster and one is trying to learn the offense 5-6 days before the first game, you need someone to play QB for the defense.

Side note, because Showers didn't really play much QB last year on the PS due to Kellen Moore sitting behind 3 different QBs, maybe they'd like to see if a full year and two camps at QB makes a difference in his play next preseason. Don't forget that last season they were trying him at different positions. This camp was his first extensive time at QB in the NFL, and everyone on our second unit sucks, OL and skill players. He may still prove to be a legit 3rd stringer next year and 2nd stringer when Romo retires.

There are a lot of people that said he would never make it through unclaimed. Of course they won't show up in this thread.

Happens every year. Folks say Player X can't be "snuck" through to the practice squad, then inevitably they do.

He's 5'11" and 185 lbs. He's not really a QB that throws.

He is going to be a version of Dunbar. Not sure he is as shifty as the one we have. Might be more durable.

As long as he doesn't have to play in a game I'm all for him being on the PS again this year. Another year there and another offseason and he might develop into a decent backup.

Just saying he is a great athlete and could fill the role of Scout team mobile QB when needed twice a year....... not a good reason to keep Showers, even though he is also a good athlete
