I see BP and TO's relationship as strictly business. BP pushing T.O's cap that one game may have been the extent of their friendship. As far as no proof of how T.O. treats new coaches just ask Steve Marriucci and Andy Reid.
I should believe them over BP? Actually I would Andy, because I know him.

Would you be so kind as to show me where they said he "walked all over them." I know all the stories, but I don't remember either guy saying he did that and he certainly hasn't here.

Assuming the worst about people with no evidence to support it just doesn't sit well with me.

Overdosing on pills,

It was an accidental interaction of pain med and supplements, I had a similar thing happen to me many years ago with prescription meds. Not fun.

calling someone on the staff a snitch,

Someone on the staff WAS a snitch, Jerry Jones was furious about it.

saying he didn't get involved early enough.

There were games that he didn't catch a pass in the first half, or just one. What is untrue about that?

I'm guessing the thing that bothered Parcells was dropped balls, and every receiver in the NFL has had it happen to him.

Portrayed ??

Yes, Yes I agree that it was "portrayed" as problematic by BSPN, Cold Pizza, PTI, Rome, etc. etc.

That's their story, that's how they reel in the audience !

But now Parcells has come out and said it was never as bad as the mediots "portrayed" it to be.

I wish he would have said this from day one.

BP handled the situation with TO very well in my opinion. If it was somewhat problematic and not as problematic as portrayed, (which is what he was saying, I think we can agree on that) then he would not completely let TO off the hook by saying to the media that "he was no problem at all".

Even your sig line states exactly what you said you wished he would have done. That IS what he did.

He was in a no win situation to even comment on it and that was the position he took all year and in the end it worked out very well with minimal problems.

You just can't criticisz that.

Pardon my rhetoric in previous posts. I'm one of the biggest T.O. supporters on this board. So my heart wasn't exactly in any of these posts. T.O. is not a cancer, hes a great player, who is actually a team player (ask Romo). Its just funny now how much support he has on this board, when during the season the anti-TO threads were so prevolent.

As much as I like Parcells, I don't think he handled Owens in the right way.

To not speak to one of my players for a month at a time is inexcusable to me.

To not check on or even ask one of my players if he was OK when he had an accident that landed him in the hospital in unfathonable to me.

I coached young men, not pros obviously, but I became a father figure to each of them, they have told me as much now that they are grown men themselves. They did not want to disappoint me.

That is the way I would have treated Owens. I would have treated him equal to the others, fair, and with respect, and loved him to death just like I do with every other player on my team.

Bill just kept stiff-arming Owens and never let him in.

I always thought Bill would become a father figure to Owens, but it never happened.

I have hater friends of mine that say "so how do you like TO now? He's ruined your team".

I call BS and have NO QUALMS about T.O. helping us win a SB. IMO, he was not "testing" Bill's patients(sp?) all day everyday like people on this board and the media like to say.

"Annoy"? My man Terry Glenn annoyed BP by droping balls and speaking up, Drew Bledsoe really annoyed BP by his actions, Julios must have REALLY annoyed BP with his panzy play at times, Spears and Canty annoyed BP by not trying and being ineffectice, Roy - oh boy - Roy must have really annoyed BP, Vandy?, Romo?, Watkins?, the whole OL?, Ellis with his *****ing?. :lmao2:

Everyone on the team "annoyed" BP and some much much more than the guy who lead the league in TD catches. Some people want to hate TO so bad they overlook the Chad Johnsons, Steve Smiths and Michael Irvins to do so.

Well, it started on a bad note because we know how BP is with players that have injuries - and that is little patience with not practicing, so by the point in time that it got to the overdose thing I think BP was a bit fed up, but just my opinion of course.

It really got better after that and when Romo was inserted.

I am by no means a TO fan, not even when he came here. I cheer when he makes a big catch ot scores, but that is for the team.

Having said that I don't think he will be a problem next, not because of BP installing a code to him, not because Garrett will phyche him out.

I think HE MAY not be a problem because, he really likes Tony. Of course I've never met Tony, but it sure seems like TO has respect or friendship beyond normal teamates do with each other. Another reason Tony will do well for us, that follow me leadership he brings.

I like the Jason hire, I think Tony will be a winner (says the guy that was in the Hensen camp during the wars, ok I was wrong). I am looking forward to next year without eveing seeing the rest of the coaching staff, FA pickups or draft.

What a role reversal. I can't stand him and I'm defending him.

how can u not defend a model citizen, and a guy who is willing to snatch off a philly hat off a kid and stomp on it on the ground, and replace it with something else.

I just remember during the revolution of the mobile QB when McNabb, Vick, and Culpepper were having their best years. Zero super bowls later, I'll take the ole pocket passer.

Perhaps its me but I'd call those guys scrambling QB's, mobile guys move around in the pocket or just outside the pocket enough to buy some time and only run when they have to.

I really don't think he was going to anyway CC. The NFL just doesn't draft QBs under 6'2" very highly. Is it always the case? No, Brees and Vick are both 6'1". But it is a bit of a roadblock. Whether that is legit or not is irrelevant. It exists.

He'll get a shot. That's the important thing. Not where you are drafted. He has the opportunity to make the most of it or wash out just like the overall #1 drafted QB.

yeah but both vick and brees were head and shoulders better than the competition in college.

Troy Smith will get a chance to be a QB in the NFL, who know he might turn out to be a pretty good one with some coaching and time...

I really dont think he will, especially if Norv is HC

Irvin loves Norv and has Owens' ear...he is gonna convince TO that he will love Norv's system, and TO will be fine

other than dropping a few too many balls this yr, TO was not an issue on the field or on the team IMO

David

You're right, he wasn't... I still purely hate the SOB, but facts is facts...

Well, that's actually fairly easy to understand; in the preseason, a lot of us were scared spitless that he'd come in and be a card-carrying PITA, generally disrupt the team...

But that didn't happen, so now some of us are lightening up on him a bit... and some of us have seen the way the media twists each and every little thing about the guy, trying to CREATE a controversy... I kept waiting to read an article about how TO had taken a nasty dump in the bathroom, and it ran all the players out of there, thus proving that he's a "disruptive influence"...

I actually felt a little sorry for Owens at one point... for sure, you couldn't pay me enough to BE him, for even a day... I'd go postal on one of those mediots...
