The quality of that footage is crazy. It actually looks like it was just filmed, with current players wearing retro uniforms.

This is back when football was real, and the guys played for the love of the sport not money.

Isn't the fact that calling the catch "atrobatic" imply that the ball was initially considered uncatchable?

How does that go down in advanced stats?
It would go down as a simple catch. Your right though some un-catchable are caught.
However I think that refs only use that term if ball is way away from the wr, so that it is truly un-catchable.

The way nfl and others keep stats is very flawed and generalized.
Just like points for gives the offense credit for scores by the defense. They should be separate.

“Every time I see your face it reminds me of the places, we used to go….”

That was the top song when this game was played.

I remember the period of time, and that song, very well for a four year old, but the Cowboys weren’t in my life just yet.

Innocence is underrated at times.

Another good one same era, video in even better condition. 1972 Playoff vs. 49ers

One of the most interesting shots in that video is the picture of Duane Thomas sitting all alone at the end of the bench. His own self-exile from the rest of the team. But he was leaning forward watching every play, and he was great in that game.

Robert Newhouse.
Back in the day --- Fooball fans across the State of Texas knew and marveled about this player.
He is a Houston Cougars' legend (his college team) and a fan favorite --and accomplished member of the Dallas Cowboys.
Take some time and research his football accompishments.
At the time Newhouse was drafted there was an annual preseason game pitting the defending Super Bowl champs against the "College All Star team, featuring the best drafted players that year.

It so happens that the Cowboys were the defending champs the same year Newhouse was drafted. The Cowboys won that game 20-6 and Newhouse scored the lone TD for the college All-Stars. The following week he reported to Cowboys training camp.
