Sign Ross Verba to play LT and start Marc Colombo ar RT for our Playoff run

SO maybe he's a head case but sign Verba for the rest of the year and solidify our LT spot. Yank Pettiti and try Colombo at RT..

Maybe this combo will make the difference for our playoff push.

Bledsoe MUST have more time and we cannot keep playing MAX protect and only giving Drew 2 options against 4-5 defenders to try and complete a pass.

NOT WORKING….

Yup. Totally agree. It couldn't hurt...

Sure, cant be any worse then what we run out there now. I'll try anything except TO at this point.

Actually, he could be a lot worse. I don't understand how you guys can convince yourself that this is the worst offensive line ever. Because it's not. It's just plain not half as bad as you whiners say it is. Do you really think Ross Verba is going to handle Micheal Strahan any better than Petiti did? Because I got news for you: he won't. Not right off the street anyway. You don't really give a damn about developing guys though, so you'd rather make a change just for the sake of making a change...and if it doesn't work out, hell, just sign another overpriced malcontent free agent, right? And keep signing them and one day one will be worth it. Yea well maybe...but maybe at some point you have to say "this young guy we have is talented enough, we have to actually develop him". Guys don't develop sitting on the bench for 3 or 4 years.

They have played too much Madden football and think you can just change players at will.

There is already a GM in the NFL doing things this way. His name is Matt Millen and it does not work.

This is really becoming the worst cliche on CowboysZone. Someone say something you don't agree with? Just say they play Madden too much!

It is appropriate when posters simply through out these grand solutions that are simply not feasible. No regard to the salary cap, team chemistry or even the actual talent of the player.

Wait, I know this player, I have heard of him, let's sign him.

An ignorant opinion usually gets met with a cliche.

Ok then they play too much fantasy football....is that better? :D

Anyone who thinks Verba could come in off the street after not playing for almost two years and play better than Tucker is living in a fantasy world.

It's actually very apt, Hustler.

People whose football knowledge is limited to Madden or Fantasy Sports tend to view the game as only an issue of whose "rating" is higher. Their thought process is that by simply getting the players with the highest "ratings," our team will win. They ignore concepts like team cohesion, parts "fitting" or not, they ignore salary cap implications, they ignore learning curves for playbooks, and they ignore personalities.

On Madden, it doesn't matter what the personality of Terrell Ownes is. His rating is high, so he is good to have. On Madden it doesn't matter if Ross Verba costs a lot and is a pain in the butt, he has a higher rating than Pettiti, so Madden fans say "Lets get him." On Madden, Ross Verba doesn't have to learn the playbook and blocking schemes; he just plugs right into the game and plays based on his ratings. Team chemistry and cohesion mean nothing in Madden. Discipline means nothing, either.

This is the mindset a lot posters bring to this subject. They think players are just interchangable parts like they are on Madden, and then anytime you can upgrade the rating, it's an obvious choice. On the game, you don't have to deal with salary caps, personality, cohesion, learning curves or anything like that.

That just isn't the way the real world works.

Since that thinking is all too common here, I think Yeagermeister's comment is dead-on; not cliche.

This is a valid argument, and would be an appropriate response.

"You play Madden too much"

Is not.

No, I find "you play Madden too much" to be a perfectly reasonable response considering there are 20 idiots every week who want change for change's sake and have no comprehension whatsoever that a football team is built brick by brick rather than purchased fully assembled.

Man, you need to chill dude. Your preaching to the choir here man. I am saying this line sucks. If you want to salvage anything this year, you better shore that unit up. Or else we are lucky to beat the skins the rest of the way. If they cant get the job done any better then they have the last 5 games what makes you think they just remembered how to play again this week. Sure the D we face weekly has something to do with our success. But this line is pathetic. If your willing to concede the rest of the season, fine, we can ride em to the bitter end. But then dont come back here whining we did not make the playoffs cause our O line sucked. I am all for playing out the rest of the year with Petteti, I like the kid. But hes overwhelmed so much right now.

I said sign verba, but I have been against signng him for the reason I dont ant TO, hes a cancer. But we are realitively close this year and could make a push if we had a line. Who knows maybe he straigthens up and starts for us for the next 8-10 years. Certainly stranger things have happened.

LOL exactly. When was the last time Verba played for a winner. And he wasn't a dominant player when he was with the Packers. and after Rivera's moderate success here i would be gun shy on bringing more aging former packer offensive linemen. next thing you know we're bringin frank winters out of retirement to replace al johnson.
