A few years ago I would have hated to see Simeon Rice on the skins because he was so good.

He isn't nearly so great now, but he still would be an improvement from what they used to have, and that is never good for us.

He was considered a linebacker coming out of Illinois (along with Kevin Hardy), did he play a traditional linebacker role in college?

Of course he doesn't want to take a pay cut. He lots tons of money already. He got befriended by a scam artist who took his entire $2.4M signing bonus back in 1996.

That being said, if they do, it doesn't matter much. He's no longer the Simeon Rice circa 2002. I wouldn't worry too much if they did. But it would be an improvement.
