Just curious where Cowboys fans stand on this....

Simple question, vote yes or no.

Do you believe Irvin's side of the story or do you think this is more of the same Irvin?

No. I don't believe the story.

I heard part of the statement Irvin gave earlier and I remember him saying something to the effect of him trying to help his friends who smoke or whatever. He said that it's basically something he sees as a responsability as these people are around his family, children. IMO, any father would look at that and say, my responsability is to my children and if these guys can't come around without drugs, then I can't have them around my children. Any father who doesn't partake, that is. Now, this may be a naive view of that situation but to me, it's black and white. As a mother or father, you owe your children, not your dead beat friends.

I truly want to believe Michael's story and the fact that he is trying to help a friend out of a tough situation. I know Mike has had troubles of his own in the past, but hopefully they are behind him and he has left that stuff behind and now he is trying to help a friend that wasn't as fortunate as him.

I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Hopefully it will never come out that he was simply a pot smoking liar.

I wish I could believe him but I've known enough people with his problem to realize that his story is highly improbable. Sorry Michael, but I'm not buying it.

Didn't someone a few months back say that they were at an airport or something and Irvin was hitting on them? After hearing that, I figured he hadn't changed.

Look, this whole bit about the friend leaving rehab with a pipe has been played way out of proportion. My immediate interpretation when Irvin said right out of rehab meant at least a couple of days. This is the most challenging part for the people who fall off the wagon. In that time it is very possible for a drug user or former drug user to get whatever paraphenilia that he/she would need. I know his history, but when it first came out, only the media made it a really huge deal. I for one will give him the benefit of the doubt and have him prove me wrong first, I'd have much better peace of mind than if I villified him and was wrong about it.

I don't like the polls where you can't see how people voted. That's half the fun.

I believe him and his story, as it stands right now. Because I know of the program that he says he put his friend in, my brother-in-law is in the program now.
And the pastor that he mentioned is my Pastor.

Also, whomever posted the arrest report, in the thread "Irvin is a liar".
The arresting officer does not have a brother, maybe one of the backup officers do, but the arresting officer has no brother per the Plano investigator I spoke with.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. The guy claimed he was hitting on his girlfriend hard, even though this is the supposed "reborn again" Irvin who is faithful. What is it about Irvin? I think as Cowboys fans, we really want to see this guy get his life straight, because we remember all the great moments and the fiery leader who could inspire the entire team with his emotions and make the clutch catches. It really is disappointing seeing him in trouble again and it's so hard to believe him again.

I can vouch for the location of the Rehab center. I have first hand knowledge of the part of town it is in. I dropped my brother-in-law off there on Oct 27, and I went to visit him this past Saturday, ;and he was telling us about guys that left, or got expelled from the program during the week. If you walk out of the compound you are expelled from the program.

And as I have said in another post, as soon as you walk out of the compound you can get whatever drugs you want, within minutes.

I want to believe him and I hope I'm wrong, but drug addicts tend to relapse and lie about their relapses than they fully recover.

Some of the things I don't get is:

1. Crack Pipe with no crack - did the "friend" bring in a crackpipe with no crack? I find that hard to believe.

2. Forgetting about the pipe - I dunno, if I found my friend had a crack pipe, I could see putting it in the car, but I would definitely not forget about it.

3. Drug Test - If I was him and had this history of drugs, I would definitely want to take a drug test ASAP.

C'mon fellas.

Who among us doesn't have a crack pipe just laying around?

I probably have a couple under my seat right now.

From my understanding it was not a CRACK pipe...but a pipe used to smoke Mary Jane....and according to the police report posted there was resin in the pipe.

There are different types of pipes ...not saying you don't know that, but I think some people were confused.

Ya know, honestly I wouldn't have any problem with Irvin smoking marijuana. It's a harmless drug and alcohol and cigarettes are far more destructive. What bothers me is that he has to go on these public reborn again Christian parades, tell us that he was an evil wicked man and changed, tell us that his friend is recovering from the evils of marijuana addiction (yeah right, when is the last time you saw a guy sell his car to feed his weed addiction) and the other nonsense.

A mentor of mine once told me that drugs can be fun but they're not worth the price. If you're going to do something that is irresponsible, you should take it like a man when it bites you in the butt. If you haven't changed Irvin, just come out and admit it. Or at least pay your damn speeding tickets when you're making hundreds of thousands from ESPN and probably have a few personal assistants and/or secretaries. This guy hasn't grown up. I'm sick of defending him with other NFL fans.
