from last season remaining . . . .

I'm wondering if Rodney Hannah is going to get a look as an H-Back?

I read in the mini-camp notes that he's bulked up to 255 lbs., and that he was catching all the passes thrown his way.

With Witten as our number 1 TE, and with us drafting M Bennett alongside T Curtis , I'm wondering if Wade/Garrett are going to use Hannah as an H-Back to complement D. Anderson?

Hannah could possibly bring a different dimension to the backfield that Cricket may not be able to.

There are actually 3 listed on the roster

Cricket
Julius Crosslin a rookie
Ronnie Cruz- the website roster has him as a 3 year guy.

I think the two are just camp bodies. So a backup FB/TE might be good. I'm not so sure its not Bennett though.

The way it's shaping up, it seems we'll see a lot more 2 TE sets than sets that use a FB this year, I'm not sure we go in with more than just Deon.

Ftting 2 FBs in the the roster will be tough-why do it when we dont really see the need?.Keep the other 2 on the PS.Bennett is a good blocking TE 1st and its a bonus that he is good at catching passes too.If he is half as good as Gates than it will be a great.

The fullback is slowly being phased out of the NFL. And I don't blame it, full backs are pointless in the "spread offense" generation.

All very good points guys . . . . .

Maybe we only go with 1 FB on the active roster this year.

When is the last time Dallas had a "above average" full back? I can't recall us ever having one.

EDIT: Daryl Johnston. Last time he played was in '99, so since 1999, we haven't had a serviceable full back. I may sound way out in left field, but we haven't won a playoff game since we last had a good FB. Just some food for thought.

Cricket?

What an inappropriate nick name.

A cricket is a little annoying bug that makes a hell of alot of noise in some seldomly and rarely and always inconviently accessable location in your house.

I wouldnt equate Anderson to that type of pesky critter.

He is more like that big old fat yard toad, you know the one, that out of place big fat toad that somehow just doesnt seem to fit on that nicely manecured lawn. Your like" where the hell did that big fat toad come from, dang thats one fat *** toad". right smack dab in the middle of your yard.

Come on Deon,,, we dont need a toad,,, evolve son, I think the next evolutionary/spiritual jump according to the back of the last chines restraunts menu was toad to Bull,,, but I could be mistaken,, it might have been a monkey.

I always wanted a monkey.

While I would agree that many teams don't use fullbacks, I wouldn't equate it to the spread offenses.

New England speads it out more than anybody, but they kept two FB's on their roster last year in Heath Evans and Kyle Eckel.

I think they key thing is to be a multi-faceted offense, able to do anything necessary to move the ball and score.

Given Anderson's injury history, I would feel better about having some sort of alternative in place.

I was disappointed that Dallas made no move on Peyton Hillis when he slid on draft day. I thought he would have provided quality depth.

Maybe their plan is to keep a FB on the practice squad should Anderson get injured?

Maybe that's why they didn't spend a draft pick on a player destined for the practice squad, for fear that they would get claimed by another team.

I've always liked that position and regret that it doesn't get the 'love' it deserves anymore.

Maybe Hannah, though not a true fullback, can be that guy? Garrett could use him a receiving FB, line him up as another TE, etc.

I don't know how good a blocker Hannah is however.

Hannah is too tall(6'8") to play a H-back. Hes strictly a TE prospect.

Richie Anderson was a good fullback...though not in the traditional sense because of his running abilities.

Ah, Richie Anderson. The guy who was hired by the Arizona Cardinals to coach the wide receivers, than the was fired before he even showed up for his first day on the job after he was caught trying to "get freaky" with a prostitute who was really an undercover police officer.

Well yea, but he had good hands out of the backfield. :)
