I agree that AC/DC and Def Leppard aren't one hit wonders, (I'm huge fans of both bands) but I still shouldn't have to buy terrible music and lets face it. Since Back in Black, AC/DC haven't had a full album of awesomeness. Why should I have to spend more for one good song?

AC/DC Rarely had a full album of awesomeness if you really want to go back and look at it. Most albums of theirs had a few good songs to one killer one and a bunch of fillers that most people forgot over the years. Their bread and butter has been in their Best of CDs and Live shows. Speaking of which, have they ever done a best of Bon Scott acdc CD that was not live. Would like to get one of those if they did lol.

I agree, though Back in Black was great front to back. Actually, I like Bon Scott and Brian Johnson the same. If you subtract Back in Black, Bon Scott is far better than Brian Johnson.

It always surprises me how easily people try to justify their consumer rights on someone else creating some thing(music, art, etc) and claiming a right to how they should be paid for it. You don't buy Cowboys tickets to just pay for the good plays, you pay for all the plays. There has to be some jump from this being a marketing tool to people actually earning a living.

My ex's dad is a career musician, not a huge band, but a working band (Average White Band), and they get peanuts for this stuff, so it really hit home for me. See what the most played track earned on Spotify via this quote:

"Consider the fact that it takes roughly one million spins on Pandora for a songwriter to earn just $90. Avicii’s release “Wake Me Up!” that I co-wrote and sing, for example, was the most streamed song in Spotify history and the 13th most played song on Pandora since its release in 2013, with more than 168 million streams in the US. And yet, that yielded only $12,359 in Pandora domestic royalties— which were then split among three songwriters and our publishers. In return for co-writing a major hit song, I’ve earned less than $4,000 domestically from the largest digital music service."

At some point you have to stop supporting being cheap and supporting giant companies and just support people (imho).

50 awards for a no talent hack..... Yeah, you credibull!

Lol

I don't give a crap if she has 5000 awards WTH does that have to do with mega talent.

When I think of mega talents in music I think of: Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, etc. Taylor Swift is not a mega talent. You are the type of person that thinks winning awards equates to talent. That's ********. Give me a break man.

She is a modern day mega talent whether you like it or not. Agree or not.

It just is.

Just cause you don't like her music doesn't make you right.

I am not a fan. Just telling it like it is.

I like bob Dylan but that is one of the worst voices EVER!!!!!

Doesn't have anything to liking her music. There are artists I don't like but I still recognize their talents and in this case mega talent. Swift has some talents, not many, but some but she is not even close to a mega talent. That's a very special group to be in. She ain't it. Dylan has one of the most unique voices their is and his voice fits his style of music perfectly. He sings against the weaknesses in his voice in order to reveal its strength just where it is most limited.

Impact and recognition

Swift speaking during aYouTube interview in 2011
Swift's work has received praise from veteran artists. Bill Withers says: "She's clever. Being a songwriter, I can appreciate her wit. She deserves all of her success."[362] Neil Young describes her as "a great writer": "I like Taylor Swift. I like listening to her. I kind of like watching her respond to all the attacks. I like the ways she's defining herself. So I keep my eye on it."[363][364] Stephen Stills defended Swift's confessional writing style: "That's what you do as a songwriter ... Wear your heart on your sleeve, then just write about it. **** 'em. If I was young, I would be one of Taylor Swift's conquests."[365][366][367]

James Taylor, who performed with Swift on two occasions, said that "we just hit it off. I loved her songs, and her presence on stage was so great."[172][173] Elvis Costello remarked: "I think she is quite interesting ... You can see a degree of self-possession there, and I'm intrigued by that."[368]Judy Collins points to Swift as an example of a current star who is continuing on the lineage of being an independent-minded artist.[369] Steve Earle said of 1989: "It's a really good record! She's a real songwriter."[370]

In regard to Swift, Kristofferson said that "she blows me away. It's amazing to me that someone so young is writing such great songs. She's got a great career ahead of her."[371][372] Janis Ian notes that Swift "changed the face of music, songwriting and guitar playing for girls ... There is an authenticity there."[373] Nicks believes Swift writes "songs that make the whole world sing, like Neil Diamond or Elton John."[130] She remarked that the younger singer's "Today Was A Fairytale" has "stayed in my heart forever. And it just reminds me of me in a lot of ways."[374] Lindsey Buckingham named Swift as a current artist who may have the staying power of Fleetwood Mac: “I actually like Taylor Swift. I admire what she’s been able to do."[375]

Jon Bon Jovi describes her as "the real deal in every way, shape and form. She's a writer, she's a singer, she's a beautiful girl ... Like, she's going to be around."[376] Parton is "extremely impressed with her, especially with her songwriting ... I'm real impressed with the depth of her sometimes. She's got the qualities that could last a long time."[377][378] Etheridge remarks: "I love her soul, her spirit. I think she's going to surprise people and I think she's going to be around for a long time."[379][380]

Swift has also received songwriting praise from contemporaries. Mayer was a supporter of Swift's early career—the duo recorded a duet and performed in concert together on two occasions: "You could put her in a time machine in any era and she would have a hit record."[381] Ryan Adams described her as one of the "most ******* amazing writers I’ve ever seen. I’ve sat in this room with her before and heard a song she was constructing on the spot and it was unbelievable. It was pure alchemy.”[382] Kathleen Hanna is "totally into Taylor Swift. I think she has super-clever lyrics, and I love that she writes her own music."[383] Shirley Manson remarked that Swift is "exceedingly talented at songwriting ... She drew her own door and walked right through it. We should applaud her balls for bucking the system. That's what artists are supposed to do."[384]Lena Dunham, the creator and star of HBO's television series Girls, has described Swift as her "artistic kindred spirit."[385]She also received praise from Drake,[386] Tegan and Sara,[387][388] Grimes,[389] Kesha,[390] Katy Perry,[391] Kelly Clarkson[392]and Lady Gaga.[393]

Apparently you have trouble reading... Lmao. I said she does have some talent she's not a mega talent. And happy for you that you found that Neil Young thinks she's a great writer. Is that supposed to change my mind? No.
Here's what Aretha Franklin said about your beloved Taylor:
Aretha Franklin Is the Queen of Soul andShade

Last week, the never-irrelevant Queen of Soul/Displeased Dowager Who's This Close To Hitting You Over the Head with Her Purse Aretha Franklin made more headlines via a Wall Street Journal interview, in which she was asked to assess some contemporary singers.

She had nice things to say about Adele ("Young singer, good singer"), reasonable things to say about Alicia Keys ("Young performer, good writer"), and respectful things to say about Whitney Houston ("Whitney was a talent, definitely a talent, she had a gift... and Cissy's baby"). She had nothing to say about Nicki Minaj ("Nicki Minaj, hmmmm...I'm gonna pass on that one!") and, most hilariously, she had this to say about Taylor Swift: "OK, great gowns, beautiful gowns."

That—the complete and utter reduction of Swift to a walking hanger—is shade, and it's just the most recent helping from a dish that Ree has been serving for decades. That much is clear in David Ritz's recent and exhaustive biography on Aretha titled Respect: The Life of Aretha Franklin. It's a fascinating, delicious depiction of the life of a woman who'd rather not be depicted—at least, not with any level of depth.

Yes. Put an emoticon when you lose argument.

How many times did they use the word "great" for her?

LOL at losing the argument. :lmao: There is no argument. It's my opinion against yours and you resorted to digging up some article with a Neil Young quote like that was going to change my opinion and add to that you didn't even pay attention to what I posted. Just stop man.

Neil, your great one, said she was great. Your opinion is your opinion. Great artists think she is great. I will go with them.

Got milk?

Thanks I love cookies especially chocolate chip. How'd you know playa?

Again just because Neil Young said it isn't going to change my opinion. I like Neil Young's music that doesn't equate to I like Neil Young's opinions of Taylor Swift.

Wow you are pretty bad at debating man.

I can honestly say this the one thing I have liked is the MP3/Apple market places for music. I really got tired in the 90's buying CDs or tapes of highly touted albums to find maybe 2 good songs maybe 3 if you were lucky. The way music is distibuted now is a god send, haven't bought a full albumin years.

The pricing on the entire music download thing is not right... at least from the perspective of the performer/talent.

I think in the end all those folks are getting a major screwing by the existing price structure.
