Because if we lose to the packers, we are in first place alone at 4-2
if we beat the packers, then we are in sole possesion of 1st at 5-1
But if the eagles win, then it's likely they will regain the first place spot and be 4-1 while we are 4-2
So if the skins win, that packers game becomes a win/win situation regardless of the outcome.
seeing this looks a lot better going into the bye
Cowboys-4-2
Skins-4-2
eagles-3-2
Instead of
Eagles-4-1
Cowboys-4-2
Skins-3-3
Agree?
Great question!
My initial instinct says we'd rather play Eagles after a win than loss . Let's review and look ahead.
We'd usually want the divisional home team to win for if not it sets up for a sweep which improves divisional record .
If Washington wins we are tied with at 4-2 if we lose but we hold the tiebreaker heads up.
Eagles go to Vikings on our bye week which is a predictable loss then following us has Atl, Sea and GB. Brutal schedule . They could lose them all.
Wash has Det and Cinn then GB and Minn.
Based on these factors I'm leaning that Philly winning might actually be more in our interest because Wash might not lose another game until November.
