I took this from ES. I can honestly say that if they do this I will be brought to tears!!!

From Dan Shanoff:

There is rumor that the Commanders will open on defense against the Bills with only 10 players, as a tribute to Taylor. That seems like as nice and fitting a moment as an NFL team can create on the field.

you can add me to the list of shedding some tears as well...

i think that the bills, or any team that would have played the skins this week would give up a down/series for this tribute.

I can see them only listing 10 starters.

Starting 10 guys is absurd. They still have an obligation to try to win the game.

That would be amazing!

I really hope they do that.
For one week I'd even root for the Skins.

What will the Bills do in that case?

It would be cool to see them take a knee and then spend a moment shaking the skins hands and a pat on the back.

There's nothing absurd about that! It would be a small token of their appreciation for a spot he will never fill again.

I'll tell you what, I wouldn't want to bet money on the Bills for that one play. There would be 10 guys out there playing with extra emotion and passion.

It's absurd. They have a job to do, same as anyone else.

Taylor's loss is a tragedy, but the reality is the league and the world have to go on. Were such a tribute appropriate, they should just cancel the game.

Putting 10 players out there isn't fair to their fans, nor to the rest of the league. It violates the spirit of fair competition. Why not start 8 and call it a triple tribute? Absurd? Yep. Just like starting 10 players would be.

And if the Bills score a TD on the first play, the Commanders look like fools.

No, if Dick Jauron sees the Skins play only 10 players on the first play in honor of Sean Taylor, the appropriate thing to do would be to pull one of his own players.

10 on 10 for the first play in honor of Sean Taylor.

No taking knees or wasting plays.

Its a nice though, but they won't do that, once the game starts it starts the Bills and Skins still have a chance to make the playoffs and neither one of them can afford to give up even a down or series.

All that will do is cause both teams to draw a flag. The rules state you need 11 on offense and 11 on defense. They will honor Sean Taylor with hard play, not drawing flags.

On the first play. That play is not going to affect the outcome of the game. Those 10 Commander players will play with more intensity then a team of defensive players during this first play of the game.

If Washington chose to only field 10 players, it's still Buffalo's obligation to try to score on the play. If that means throwing deep, so be it.

You don't get flagged for not enough men on the field. You get flagged for to many on the field.
