Skins Defensive Tribute Rumor

You don't get flagged for not enough men on the field. You get flagged for to many on the field.

Your right, I stand corrected..

Yup, I believe you only need 7 players on the line of scrimmage and someone to take the snap.

The Bills should take a TE out to symbolize Kevin Everett (parolized earlier this year) Tribute to both players

The Bills will have to score on a deep pass play, in honor of Taylor.
Am I the only one that finds this melodramatic? I have nothing but sympathy for the loss, but not fielding a full defensive team? Just go out and play hard and dedicate the game to him, but don't hurt the team to make some maudlin point that doesn't need to be made between the lines.

Yep, otherwise Tony Dorsett's TD record never happened.

I swear, Hostile...I was just going to type that about Dorsett's TD!!

It's absurd. They have a job to do, same as anyone else.

Taylor's loss is a tragedy, but the reality is the league and the world have to go on. Were such a tribute appropriate, they should just cancel the game.

Putting 10 players out there isn't fair to their fans, nor to the rest of the league. It violates the spirit of fair competition. Why not start 8 and call it a triple tribute? Absurd? Yep. Just like starting 10 players would be.

whatever... we're only talking ONE play.........

All that will do is cause both teams to draw a flag. The rules state you need 11 on offense and 11 on defense. They will honor Sean Taylor with hard play, not drawing flags.

would that not be off setting -letting them play the down over with 11 ??

Why not have the whole defense take a knee and let the Bills score an easy TD...what a tribute that would be...absurd!!!

Play the game! That's what any deceased football player would tell his teammates to do if he were able to.

People are getting way too touchy feely over one man's death. I don't remember this forum being so "sensitive" when Bill Parcells had to bury his brother in the afternoon and then coach the team that same night.

What's going on in here...you guys taking estrogen pills?

I think it wouldn't be fair to the Bills, what are they supposed to do? just give a down to the skins and take a knee? Play with 11 and be seen as heartless? Put in a play with 10 guys? Nice in theory, sucks in practice.

True.

Unless they intend to lineup for what amounts to a ceremonial first pitch, you can't do this. Is it more touching for fans? Sure. But if Sean Taylor was there, I'm sure he'd rather his boys just go out there and kick some ***.

NO... some of us can see beyond our hatred of a certain type of uniform!

It would be cool to see them take a knee and then spend a moment shaking the skins hands and a pat on the back.

My thoughts exactly. The Skins should do it, if for nothing else than to say that winning the game is not important as being a team.

If the Bills were to exploit it, shame on them.

Come on. going a little overboard aren't ya?

it would be one play and I imagine that if the Skins came out with 10, the bills would just run it right up the middle.

Ease up. You act like your life is riding on the game.

This gesture reminds me of "Missing Man" formation that I've seen few times when I was in the Navy.

In my Navy career, we've lost some people in the squadron and we honor and show respect by pilots flying "Missing Man" formation, where 4 or 5 jets flying side by side and point nose to the sky, while they are climbing the altitude, one pilot drops off, I get choked up watching these manuvers.

We're talking about the freaking bills. They're not gonna be able to throw deep and actually complete it anyway. Boohoo to all y'all.

I wouldn't mind seeing 1 play without him..just like USC did with the kicker they lost.

No, if Dick Jauron sees the Skins play only 10 players on the first play in honor of Sean Taylor, the appropriate thing to do would be to pull one of his own players.

10 on 10 for the first play in honor of Sean Taylor.

No taking knees or wasting plays.

No, everyone has a job to do. It's very unfortunate what happened, but it would be dumb on both sides.

play off with 10, you might give up some run yards but it doesn't have to be that big of a detriment for one play.

No you can play with 10 players as long as you cover the tackles. Tony Dorsett scored the longest TD run from scrimmage with only 10 guys on the field. You just can't have more than 11.

EDIT: Just saw the other responses.

If it was worked out before the game with Buffalo coaches, the skins could come out with 10 players, the Bills take the delay of game penalty which the skins decline, game starts right over 1st and 10
