Ugh, my friend is a Saints fan and has been talking all this crap about getting Haynesworht for Jamaal Brown which I said was impossible. I'd be pissed if they ended up pulling it off.

Let them have Haynesworth, he is a bum. He only plays "lights out" when it is a contract year, the rest of the time he has to come off the field every other play to count his millions on the bench.

He pulled this same crap in Tennessee, he did jack for years until his contract year came up and then he played like a man possessed. Thats the word going around about Fat Albert, once he gets paid he gets very lazy.

Like I said, the Saints can have that POS and screw their cap when it comes back in the new CBA.

I'm going to laugh if the draft pick is a conditional 1st rounder. Think they already gave up their 3rd and 4th next year for McNabbShell.

Idiot skins and their moron owner always trying to win now and never rebuild... and yet never can realize why they suck so bad year in and year out.

Jamal Brown is solid, but he isn't worth giving up much for. He's not a franchise tackle.

Of course that is why Haynesworth had a franchise tag put on him twice by the Titian's and they let him walk with out as much as a blink for a reason. I also do not understand why Chicago gave the contract they did to Peppers there was a reason Carolina let him walk.

Report: Jammal Brown dealt to the Commanders
Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2010 3:29 PM ET
It was a rumor. Now it's something more firm.

Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports via Twitter that Saints left tackle Jammal Brown has been traded to the Commanders.

There's no word yet on what the Saints will receive. In unrelated news, Heaven is reporting an uptick in prayers containing the phrase "please not Albert Haynesworth."

UPDATE: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Commanders are "trying to finalize" the trade, and that it's not believed to include Haynesworth.

SECOND UPDATE: Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Saints will receive a conditional draft pick. Glazer also saw his shadow, which means that there will be at least six more weeks of summer.

Jammal Brown deal done, if he signs the tender
Posted by Mike Florio on June 19, 2010 4:05 PM ET

A league source tells us that the Commanders have worked out a deal with the Saints for left tackle Jammal Brown.

Now, if they can work out a deal with Brown, the deal will be done.

As we mentioned a little bit ago, Brown can't be traded unless he signs his tender offer. Per the source, the Commanders currently are negotiating a long-term extension for Brown. If/when they work it out, he'll sign the tender, get traded, and sign the extension.

The move will reunite Brown with Commanders defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, who drafted Brown out of Oklahoma in 2005.

How long before the usual suspects are crying that we didnt trade for him?

and how long before the Commanders cocky arrogant fans show up telling us how great they are again, like every offseason?

a conditional pick? What is wrong with brown that he is traded for a conditional pick?

He will help their oline simply because he's better then anything they have but he isn't all that and their oline is still flatout terrible. Trent Williams will probably play RT now but he only played Tackle for one year in college. He will get eaten up at RT as well. Spencer will have a monster game against him on opening day.

Brown or Gaither was who I wanted for Dallas. I hope Free or Barron pan out.

Yeah, a lot of people wanted one of those two. But I wouldn't worry too much. One, I think Free and Barron will be fine. Two, the Commanders don't exactly have a great track record for bringing in players that significantly contribute once they're there.

Guess I'd want to see the compensation first - teams don't trade SB winning players like this unless they are done with them.

Still, hard to fault WAS for addressing their line with younger players.

Brown wasn't healthy during the SB run.

Also, little Danny would think he's a player away, wouldn't he?

After Saturday's trade for Brown, Washington will be without its third- and fourth-round picks in 2011, but it also will be getting back a later pick from New Orleans, according to a league source.

Washington owes the Eagles a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb, based on how the quarterback plays or the team performs. If the Commanders win nine games, or go to the playoffs, or McNabb gets selected to the Pro Bowl, then Philadelphia will receive Washington's third-round pick and New Orleans will get Washington's fourth. If none of those happen, then the Eagles will get the Commanders' fourth-round pick and the Saints will get the Commanders' third-round pick.

If the Saints recieve Washington's fourth-round pick, then the Commanders will get a sixth- or seventh-round pick back from the Saints. However, if Washington's fourth-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the Commanders get fifth-round pick from New Orleans.

There is also a conditional 2012 sixth-round pick involved. Should Brown play 90 percent of the plays next season or get voted to the Pro Bowl, then Washington will send its 2012 sixth-round pick to New Orleans. After Saturday's trade, Washington has six picks left in the 2011 draft.

The Washington Commanders and New Orleans Saints have agreed on a deal for Pro Bowl offensive tackle Jammal Brown, according to a team source.
The trade is subject to a physical. Brown flew to Washington mid-afternoon Saturday, and is scheduled to undergo the physical later in the day.
The Saints' compensation is actually tied to the Commanders' trade with the Eagles for quarterback Donovan McNabb.

If Washington's third-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the Commanders' fourth-round pick will go to New Orleans, with a sixth- or seventh-round pick coming back to Washington from the Saints. However, if Washington's fourth-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the Commanders' third-round pick will go to New Orleans, with a fifth-round pick coming back to Washington from the Saints.

There is also a conditional 2012 sixth-round pick involved. Should he play 90 percent of the plays next season or get voted to the Pro Bowl, then Washington will send its 2012 sixth-round pick to New Orleans. After Saturday's trade, Washington has six picks left in the 2011 draft.

If everything goes through, the Commanders will have options at offensive tackle. Brown and first-round pick Trent Williams can play either tackle position. But the initial plan is to have Williams at left and Brown at right.
Brown has only one year remaining on his contract. The Commanders have no plans in place to sign Brown to a long-term extension yet, but they ultimately plan to keep him.

This is a great deal provided that Brown is healthy, and can stay healthy. I like it. We certainly needed some depth.

Reminds me of this

Dan Patrick: With the first nine months of the Baseketball postseason out of the way, the playoff picture is starting to emerge.
Kenny Mayne: So, with last night's victory over Boston, next week the Milwaukee Beers must beat Indianapolis in order to advance to Charlotte. That's in an effort to reduce their magic number to three.
Dan Patrick: Right, and then the Beers can advance to the National Eastern Division North to play Tampa.
Kenny Mayne: So, if the Beers beat Detroit and Denver beats Atlanta in the American Southwestern Division East Northern, then Milwaukee goes to the Denslow Cup, unless Baltimore can upset Buffalo and Charlotte ties Toronto, then Oakland would play LA and Pittsburgh in a blind choice round robin.
