After Saturday's trade for Brown, Washington will be without its third- and fourth-round picks in 2011, but it also will be getting back a later pick from New Orleans, according to a league source.

Washington owes the Eagles a third- or fourth-round pick in 2011 for McNabb, based on how the quarterback plays or the team performs. If the Commanders win nine games, or go to the playoffs, or McNabb gets selected to the Pro Bowl, then Philadelphia will receive Washington's third-round pick and New Orleans will get Washington's fourth. If none of those happen, then the Eagles will get the Commanders' fourth-round pick and the Saints will get the Commanders' third-round pick.

If the Saints recieve Washington's fourth-round pick, then the Commanders will get a sixth- or seventh-round pick back from the Saints. However, if Washington's fourth-round pick goes to Philadelphia, then the Commanders get fifth-round pick from New Orleans.

There is also a conditional 2012 sixth-round pick involved. Should Brown play 90 percent of the plays next season or get voted to the Pro Bowl, then Washington will send its 2012 sixth-round pick to New Orleans. After Saturday's trade, Washington has six picks left in the 2011 draft.

Big deal...DWARE tore his *** up coming off a major injury scare,i cant wait to see what he does to him when healthy:star:

Jamaal Brown didn't play that game. His backup, Jermon Bushrod, started at LT and Ware ate him alive.

Schefter is implying that it's a conditional draft pick.

This trade makes you wonder whether the Commanders saw Trent Williams in minicamp and were scared to leave him on the left side against DeMarcus Ware. I doubt he'll fare any better against Anthony Spencer on the right side, and we've all seen Ware abuse Brown in the past.

Hope so. I'd actually be more concerned about the Saints getting Haynesworth than the Commanders getting Brown. I think New Orleans would know what to do to get Haynesworth back to being the player he became in Tennessee.

Would rather he stay disgruntled and continue to be a problem for the Skins.

I completely agree with Bob that the Skins are making a mistake by continuing to trade away future picks, but it's hard to be too upset when it's only a 3rd or 4th with potentially a 6th coming back to us. (If that is the compensation - it needs more than the 3 seconds I took to read it to understand it).

Thats some silly compensation there (in terms of the scenarios)

I got 2 thoughts on this

A) Major needs from last season are now filled. Upgrade at QB-check

O-line needing major infusion of talent to be at minimum NFL worthy-check

Depth at o-line to avoid last season's disaster with all the injuries-check

All of this for a future 3rd and 4th, one of which will most likely be recouped with an Albert Haynesworth trade (and I forgot about the 5th, or 6th coming bacl)

B) They are making the same mistake Joe Gibbs made which got them into this mess

Mid round draft picks are gold. You find solid diamonds in the rough, the 3rd round guard that can start for you for a decade, but before he does that he plays special teams and is on the FG unit for 2 seasons. You find that backup strong safety that will bust a wedge on the kick off team, and in year 3 is contributing to the defense.

You need an abundance of that to win.

However, considering where the team started this offseason talent wise, in particular at LT, RT and QB, these are all major upgrades which were badly needed to field some semblance of a competitive team

Good move by the Skins.

But it doesn't change the fact the Skins are dogmeat and the Boys will deal them two lopsided defeats next season.

Bank on that.

Trent Williams isn't really a great LT prospect. He was at his best as a Junior RT.

Or I'm talking about someone totally different.

Now you're quite right about him. He was much better as a RT and they were pretty disappointed in, especially the OU fans around the area, with how he played at LT.

If this means they're moving Williams to RT and tying up that kind of money in him to be a RT this is a big win for everyone else in the league but Brown will no doubt help make their O-Line better.
