it's me - a definate monday and a slow cowboys movement day at that one. looks like just like me wading through the chicken littles AND chicken little bashings we all got lost in the genericism of it all.
not you - me so i apologize for that man. thanks for being polite about it.
Generally Monday's blow. But, it's beautiful here, about 20 degrees above the norm, and we just got back from tossin the pigskin around the park. I'm feeling unusually chipper.
Let me outline for you exactly how I feel about this -
Am I upset that we have not really upgraded our team yet? I don't know jack about Kosier, so yeah. I also know the league is full of legit Olinemen that I know nothing about. Who was Brian Waters before he went to KC? I was smoking the Bentley pipe, so I was naturally diappointed there. I don't know how you DON'T pursue a 26 year old all star when you've got cash to burn. That makes no sense to me at all. Unlike many, I like Gurode. I think he's a beast of a player that just gets his head out of the game too much. He's got another year.
But I fail to see what all the "huzzah" is about the Skins breaking the bank for mediocre players. Yes, they have "names". But that's it. These are not signings worth getting panties in a bunch over. I don't have a problem with people lamenting our lack of activity, that makes sense to me. We have needs, and if we don't address them, it feels an awful lot like 04. The problem I have, is that people complain about the lack of moves, seemingly BECAUSE Snyder is running around like a kid in a candy store. Making moves, just to make moves, seems to be the spirit of the place. People would be happy if we were signing SOMEBODY, and so you observe the attitude of a jealous child, who wants what his friend has, just because his friend has it.
Bottom line, IMO, is that there is a proven way to win during the salary cap era. We are at least attempting that. Pitiful drafting has left us behind the curve, but if last year is any indication, that's changing. I'm optimistic about drafting players, developing them. I look at teams making big moves for many free agents, and all I can think is "When has that ever worked?" And the answer is "It hasn't. Not ever." Draft well, pick up supplemental players in free agency. That's how it is done, and that's what we are efforting. If the Cowboys had gone the route of the Skins, I would be devastated.
