you know what i mean. this team has bigger rivals now in #1 Giants, #2 Philly(except the last game last season) and #3 Washington. they get more hyped to play the giants than Philly than Washington in that order. you must be blind if you don't see this.

OK -- but when the Raiders are the team that doesn't want him, does that really count? They gave Randy Moss away for a 4th round pick didn't they? They took a safety in the 2nd round in the draft this year that most teams didn't even have a scouting report on...

Fair point.

And he did play quite well when he came here mid-season last year...
I will give him that. He did play well. But I've seen the guy stink it up something fierce in Atlanta and Oakland as well.

On top of that...that's flawed logic. The Commanders were 8th in rushing D, 7th in pass D last year (with only 24 sacks). That will improve with Orakpo and Haynesworth. I understand the Haynesworth love, even though I think he will underperform because he got paid, but I don't get the Orakpo love. I watched every Texas game in the last 5 years, and he's a decent player, but you will soon find out he is nowhere near elite. The majority of sacks he's gotten have come when someone forgets to block him, or when he plays trash opponents. How many games have you seen him play? I'm guessing very few. Now the skins fans aren't the only fan group who gets excited over the rookie "fever". All teams fans too. Do a search on Amendola in these forums last year. But the facts remain, very, very, few rookies pan out to what the fan base thinks they can do. And being a Longhorn fan myself, I just don't the love for Orakpo. Over the next couple of months, you will see why. Mark my words.

Can you explain why, despite leading the league in sacks, the Cowboys only managed 8 INTs? Because our safeties were poor. And Henry likes to line up 30 yards downfield from the receiver. I'll tell you what though. Give me an average secondary with a ferocious pass rush any day over a great secondary (not that you have one), and a poor pass rush (you do have one)

Um...Dallas' ain't much better...in fact the only line in the BEast this year that doesn't have a world of questions surrounding it is the Giants. Yes we are. Combine that with having a much better QB than you do, and there is no comparison in our passing game. Do we still have some questions? Sure. Every team does. But we aren't in the same league as your O-line.

2 weeks ago, I would have agreed. My money is on the Eagles now...

I can't wait for the season...

The Eagles will finish better than you. But they certainly do have thier problems right now. The loss of Jim Johnson being the biggest in my eyes.

So do a lot of people :)

I have faith in Blanche and Gray...so far the secondary has been very good. 7th in the league last year with an almost non-existent pass rush denotes a pretty damned good secondary...

I understand the Haynesworth love, even though I think he will underperform because he got paid,

We'll agree to disagree there. He's saying all the right things. But at this point it's nothing more then opinion and conjecture. I think he'll be great, you don't. Shocker :)

but I don't get the Orakpo love. I watched every Texas game in the last 5 years, and he's a decent player, but you will soon find out he is nowhere near elite. The majority of sacks he's gotten have come when someone forgets to block him, or when he plays trash opponents. How many games have you seen him play? I'm guessing very few.

You're right, I haven't seen him play at all other then highlight clips and the like. I am going by reports out of training camp.

Now the skins fans aren't the only fan group who gets excited over the rookie "fever". All teams fans too. Do a search on Amendola in these forums last year. I'll definitely agree there -- a lot of rookies don't pan out -- both organizations are littered with failed draft picks. However I will say college production is rarely a barometer for NFL Success. We'll see what happens, the early reports are positive. I am optimistically hoping for 8 sacks, tops.

Because our safeties were poor. And Henry likes to line up 30 yards downfield from the receiver. I'll tell you what though. Give me an average secondary with a ferocious pass rush any day over a great secondary (not that you have one), and a poor pass rush (you do have one)

So, with less then half the pass rush Dallas had, the Skins gave up about 6 yards a game more through the air...I would say that leads to the conclusion that the secondary was pretty good. I'll take Hall, Rogers, Smoot (who isn't nearly as good as many Commanders fans think) and Tryon/Barnes over Newman (turning into Shawn Springs -- very good when he's on the field) Jenkins and Scandrick (who have talent -- but are young.) The Giants game last year would worry me about Jenkins...

Yes we are...Sure. Every team does. But we aren't in the same league as your O-line.

Both Mosely and Clayton would disagree...Dallas gave up 31 sacks last year to the Skins 38. I think the Dallas line is overrated by a lot of people...But yes, the Skins line worries me to death.

Combine that with having a much better QB than you do, and there is no comparison in our passing game. Do we still have some questions?

It'll be interesting to see the effect the loss of TO has on the passing game. There is a lot of talk about "addition by subtraction" but both McNabb and Garcia (Garcia was due to age as well) saw significant drop-offs in production post-TO. Not going to make any predictions, but it's something that bears watching. But yes, the Cowboys passing game is much more dangerous then the Skins. I have lost a LOT of faith in Campbell...I was talking about the o-line alone.

The Eagles will finish better than you. But they certainly do have thier problems right now. The loss of Jim Johnson being the biggest in my eyes.

That's why they play the games. I think Philly is going to fall hard. Cole was injured yesterday as well...and Philly does not do well with expectations...

You piss me off Sammy. This is running with your tail tucked between your legs. Stand up and fight like a man. Don't go down with a whimper and a wail.

.337 Cardinals winning % against Dallas

.389 Giants winning % against Dallas

.394 Commanders winning % against Dallas

.448 Eagles winning % against Dallas

At least among long time division rivals you are 2nd best. To bad sub .400 is so mediocre.

What hurts worse? .394 or the fact we've won more games in your house than you have in the series?

I'm sorry that I pissed you off. I was just trying to be a good guest in someone else's house.

I didn't and won't backtrack from my prediction that the Skins will sweep the Cowboys this year.

However, it does not matter what any of us, including me, say here on the issue because the game is played on the field, not an internet forum.

To answer your question, none of the things that you mentioned hurt at all. I am not concerned about the past. I am concerned about games in the present.

....how about the idea that they went out and signed DJ Hacket at WR. That guy simply sucked last year here in Carolina. Their WR's must really be struggling to have to sign him.

They signed Hackett to be the #5 receiver after Roydell Williams broke his finger. The signing had nothing to do with other wr's on the roster.

Just 4 practices into TC, Fat Albert needed a injection in his knee already. That ain't good...

Actually Phat Al has been getting those injections for years now. They are routine.

Haynesworth has a bum knee and we still got Gurode who PWNED Haynesworth last time they met!

Orakpo is playing out of position as a OLB in a 4-3

not to mention..I don't think any Skins' fan knows who they're starting linemen would be..and seems like we faired pretty well last year when Martellus Bennett caught the go ahead score..we have weapons..we'll actually be able to use em this year with out anybody crying for the ball.

Yes, it does make things better. Think about it: Haynesworth followed the same regimen and then went on to become Defensive Player of the Year. Obviously the regimen is not a sign of problems.

FYI, the pissed off was because I was wanting a little bit more of a scrap form you. Not because you were a bad guest.

There are no games in the present. Only the past and the future at this point. That answer was a cop out.

First, although some publications rate the Skins pretty low, others have talked about a 12-4 season.

Second, the preseason publications do not change results on the field. Who picked Atlanta and Miami to go to the playoffs at this time last year?

I see the Commanders winning a tough one in our digs and absolutely destroying them at Fed Ex, sadly.
