Lamb led the team in targets, yards, and receptions. Shultz was #2 in receptions. Cooper for all intense and purposes was the #3 option for Dak in our offense last year.

Cooper was a luxury we no longer needed and at 22 million it was time to go with have Lamb is our #1 and Gallup resigned. But lets also remember that to keep Cooper would have meant another 3 years of him at 22 million per year.

It was 100% the right move and the obvious move.

yeah, i’m complaining that they did and saying i’d rather bank on amari having a season more in line with his others than having an extra fifth rd pick. i’d also rather use that 3rd rounder spent on wr elsewhere.

if we can afford him and he outplays a 5th rounder he doesn't need to be elite. AND we get an additional player in place of a third receiver from a value packed third round. But yeah, Considering the guy has had a pretty similar trajectory throughout his career, I don't think that it's a stretch to think he could pretty easily outplay a down year in which the Cowboys offense as a whole was weird and out of sorts. If you'd prefer snark than conversation that's fine though

I honestly don't think the Cowboys blew it by parting with Cooper. I think the Cowboys got tired of seeing him becoming so inconsistent when he was being compensated so generously. Let's see how they'll manage to get along without him, before deciding that to be the case. I'm hoping they'll do well.

Do you think that was because Cooper was bad or because ownership/coaches/etc wanted to reduce Coop to get rid of his salary?

Given what has happened, do you still think Cooper's salary would be bad if he had continued to be productive like he was the first couple years?

Just honest questions. The proof will come. He's gone so no looking back. Will be interesting to see how it goes. I am hoping Jalen Tolbert was a steal because he was the only real draft picked I liked.

Cooper is washed. I'd say he's so washed that: Gallup, Tolbert, Lamb and Washington is automatically an upgrade over what we had last season by overall talent.

I think Lamb is just great and you have to get him the ball. He is open. And once you commit the resources to Lamb you have basically turned the page on Cooper. If they wanted to keep Cooper then they never should have drafted Lamb.

I dont think they did anything intentionally. This is just the natural course of things. They would be dumb not to use Lamb as well as being dumb not to use Cooper. But its a waste to have both.

In a finite salary cap you have to level out the resources from an area of over use to an area that needs it. Simple logistics.

Even if its not an upgrade, does it matter? We had an abundance of resources in the passing game. So if we were a 10 and a scale before and we are an 8 now, we are still in the top 10 in the league passing weapons. Which should be more than enough with a 40 million dollar QB.

Like I have asked before what did the Cowboys lose by getting rid of Cooper, Collins, and Gregory? CeeDee has the tools to be a better number 1 then Cooper. CeeDee was the better player last season. Collins has been bad for the last two seasons. The line played better without Collins last season. Gregory is the most overrated player in the league. He played a career high 11 games last season. Gregory is a designated pass rusher that played limited snaps last season. Armstrong, Fowler, and Williams are better and cheaper then Gregory. Bad draft???. Let’s let the guys play a season before we even attempt to judge. For some reason fans just don’t think two All Pro defensive player of the year candidates who are under 25 will not get better.

If Watson plays he will. If he doesn't have a qb it's 50/50. I'd bet on him, if the targets are there.

Yes, I think 20mil for any WR is way too much. I could care less what other teams are paying their guys. KC didn't want to pay, GB didn't want to pay, TT didn't want to pay. SF is not paying Deebo yet. There are tons of WR in the draft each year and you get them for 4 to 5 years. Just like you shouldn't pay RBs, you shouldn't pay WR. Only franchise QB's are worth big money and we haven't found one of them yet either. 7 years and counting.
