his signing here on a one year deal has more to do with keeping his family entact during a pandemic and not worrying about when he can move them than Dak and his contract.

if he had signed here for 3 or 4yrs....then yeah....it's a signal that something more is going on.

but only a 1yr deal.....tells me he wanted to stay with his family and gives him time to figure out where he wants to continue his career as a starter.

I'm not really sure if that is the case, that JJ told Dalton that or not? But with this little money that JJ is going to invest in Dalton, that just took away a little of Dak's dream cash, and even more dream cash if Dalton plays and gets his incentives.

Maybe JJ learned from Romo about overpaying a QB? The cash that could be saved if Dak came down off his high horse and think "team", it's there. Or, Dak could scoot on out...an Ace in the hole.

If you actually take the time to watch the video the man has a point. It IS odd he'd sign here for 3 million.

It's happening, bros.

I'm a HUGE fan of Dak, and I'm one of you guys that sit on the forum lamenting the fact that they man wants a max contract because I think he has earned it, and has shown he can do it all and stay healthy. Having said that, getting Dalton is an amazing gift and if I were Jerry, I would let Dak hold out or whatever it is he is trying to do because as much as I want the cowboys to win now, I feel like Big Mike gets at least a year to implement his mark on the team. What I mean by that is that Big Mike has a grace period where things don't have to be perfect so letting Dalton play if the situation arises the timing couldn't be better. I definitely believe that now is the time for Jerry to play hardball with Dak, because this is what Dak is doing to Jerry and the Cowboys organization.

I think many of you are losing sight that what we're seeing with Dak is just typical contract negotiations and we're seeing posturing on both sides which is completely normal. Jerry did mess up in my opinion by not offering Dak an extension with a respectful contract two years ago, but he sat on his hands now here we are. Both sides are playing the game right now, but if I'm Jerry I would be in no hurry to make Dak the highest paid player in the league and make him sweat it out and get his attitude right. I'm not saying that Dak has an attitude issue, but I do believe he could of handled all of this better.

So funny that those who are anti-Dak have to find low football IQ talking heads like Skip to back their point.

All the film guys, Sturm, Ickes, Owning, etc & the advanced stats folks are pro-Dak.

telling...

I believe Bayless on sports stuff about as much as I believe in Santa Clause, the Easter bunny and the coyote catching the roadrunner.

This is a little overboard for me...but at the same time. I really like Dak. I think he has outplayed his rookie contract especially where he was picked.. With that said, I think his agents are greedy. I know their job is to get all the money they can for their client but Dak hasn't been all world. Far from it. I am interested to see how this shakes out at least.

Skip Bayless is the same guy who got fired from the Fort Worth Star Telegram because he lost his press credentials with the Cowboys because all he ever wrote about was what the Cowboys were doing wrong and now we're supposed to believe what he says?

You know what , screw all of this. I say we tank for Lawrence (that is if doesn't pull a Peyton Manning and returns his SR year.)

There have been players around the league over the years that got tired of their agents keeping them from getting a contract signed and who had fired those agents and got new ones and got their deals done. I'm not saying this is going to happen, but it's also not out of the realm of possibilities..

Skip is obviously trolling, but there's nothing crazy that he said here. It's quite possible that they told Dalton that he was unquestionably the backup but that they don't know what's going to happen with the Dak negotiations and the chances that Dalton could play are not completely zero. It's possible that was a tipping point for Dalton.

Anyone that even before the season starts wants their team to lose for ANY reason really isn't a fan of that team.
