Maybe this was a Covid 19 decision. Staying close to home during the pandemic...

If you actually take the time to watch the video the man has a point. It IS odd he'd sign here for 3 million.

It's happening, bros.

Sooo why is this thread going on and on...Yet the thread which ACTUALLY quotes the Dallas Front Office regarding this situation being ignored?
people are stupid. just like they ignore facts in life even if it slaps them in the face they are ignoring what the FO and Dalton himself is telling us.

Four years of whining about a QB making just over $4 million total and then getting excited about a worse QB making $3-$7 million for one year. Makes absolutely no sense. There is something different about Dak and Andy which causes this hypocritical reaction.

Dalton is a redhead. He has Jerry's heart on that alone. Jerry wants it to be like the QB Garrett years again.

3 million is kicker money. We're talking about a starting QB here. He's not taking that deal unless Jerry looked him in the eye and told him he was done with Prescott.

Dalton has a year to convince the Cowboys they don't need to draft one in April.

If Jerry had wanted Dalton for the purpose of starting ahead of Prescott he would've paid him more than 3 mil.
Like I said, just more wishful thinking.

Dalton told on NBC news/sports Wed. night he's not here to take Dak's job, he's here as a backup. Dalton's own words.
Get over it guys, they brought him in as a backup. Period. If something happens to change that so be it, but you guys are trying to make something out of it that just isn't there.

Aw man......Skip.......Can we please not do this?

Perhaps we can offer Dalton a little competition. I heard Weeden was hanging out with the Monday Night Football crew last season. Let's roll him in to training camp.

Dak...the guy was a 4th round draft pick that started every single game so far in his career.....two time Pro Bowl.....best QB rookie rating in history.

Only 12 QB's in NFL history has over 2000, pass attempts in their first four seasons.....Dak is ranked #1 in passer rating., #3 in yardage behind Peyton Manning and Dan Marino, #2 in lowest INT%, #2 in yards per attempt behind Marino, #3 in wins.

And less we forget, for those 12 QB's, the only ones with over 2000 attempts in their first four years, you can add in #! in rushing TD's, almost equal to the next two combined.

Yes, Dalton is in that group too. His rating in his first four years combined was 85.2 to Dak's 97.0. Most importantly, he is four years removed from that category. Last season he was ranked dead last in passer rating. in his 9 year career he has a 90 or higher passer rating 2 times. In Dak's case, 3 of his 4.

And what did Dak's contract look like during those four seasons? The Cowboys were able to capitalize on the fact that Dak's salary was miniscule compared to his contributions to the team. They took advantage of an immense opportunity. Dak never said a word about it. He never made negative remarks, never held out during the contracts term.

Two other guys from his draft class got their contract......one year ahead.....Jaylon missed an entire season but got paid. Zeke held out a season earlier than his contract but got paid.

And Dak is just going to get better. He is at the stage in his career where he is still improving. Dalton's arrow is not going in the same direction and he has never been as good as Dak.

Are we hoping that playoff performance matters this season? Since Dalton's first season, 33 QB's have thrown at least 50 passes in the playoffs. Dak is ranked #11 with a playoff rating of 95.7. Dalton is #32, second to last with a playoff passer rating of 55.7.....and that was the real good Dalton of 4 years ago.

The only accomplishment this season from Andy Dalton is stealing 3 million dollars from Jerry Jones.

I am talking about this Jerry Jones:

"Emmitt Smith is a luxury not a necessity"

"We have a player in Joseph Randle that has the potential -- and we based that on, not on what he did at Oklahoma State or how we drafted him, but by literally being a teammate around here for the last two years -- but he has the potential to be the kind of back that would step in there and be your No. 1 back. If he were not here, then I wouldn't feel as good as we go into the season and what might happen."

“We were very fortunate that Matt Cassel was available to us when Tony went down.”

"I'm still so damn mad at Stephen. I get madder, every day, about missin' Manziel"

"I have to be a realist. I hadn't thought or hoped that we'd be sitting here after the sixth game making these adjustments. … I did not want to this year go to an inexperienced quarterback (Tony Romo). I wanted to have the benefit of Drew Bledsoe. It hasn't worked out as of today. It just hasn't worked out. That to me is a step back."

....Some fans still wonder why the Cowboys haven't been to a conference championship in 25 years. I just hope that this doesn't get to the point where he actually ends up running Dak out of town. This could have ended long ago for less.

At least we have our savior in that event, Dalton

Listen carefully to AD's interview with Schefter.

He talks about using this season as an opportunity to set himself up for the rest of his career (he thinks he can play 5-6 more years).

He had opportunities at other teams yet he chose Dallas to accomplish this...why? Why would he choose Dallas to accomplish that when the QB1 hasn't missed a game in 4 years? Hmm...

I could be wrong, but I think the front office is now prepared to play hardball with Dak.
I hope so.

Its not holding on to Skip’s word...Its logic

Explain to me why he would come here if he wants to become a starter next season? Especially when this QB has shown to be very durable...

Because Dalton can't get a QB starter position with any other team right now, he wouldn't mind playing for the Cowboys for a season. Dalton and family are based in Dallas.

In the unlikely event Dak is not with the Cowboys anymore he may be able to get that ideal opportunity. But I would think that is a long shot.

I can hear your heart breaking.

“Dak has played really well,” Dalton said, via Jon Machota. “I knew the situation I was coming into. . . . Dak is the starter on this team. If for some reason he was to go down, I will be able to step in and help this team.”

The Difference, you speak of is Andy making 3 mil base salary and the Messiah demanding 35-40 million a year. If Andy craps the bed and fails to score more than 10 points in 3 games as a starter next year, he will be under just as much scrutiny as Dakota was. Its called delivering the goods...…..and not just against the worst defenses the NFL had to offer.

Conspiracy and baiting dispelled.

If Dak holds out, he's going to make all of his haters eat lots of crow when Andy Dalton gets exposed for the chump he is today and the losses start piling on.
That would be a win for Dallas if Dak holds out and Dalton doesnt play well. Then maybe Dallas is in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. And if Dalton plays well thats a win because it proves what Jerry was thinking that this team is built to be QB friendly. Dak wants the world with a fence around it making him too greedy.
