Dak is ascending still...STAFFORD has NEVER really ascended to do anything. Makes no sense to trade for a 2 year rental and knowing you will likely be searching for another QB in 2 years time lol..and its not like finding a franchise QB is easy. Stafford has always been an above-average QB on poorly coached teams with a poorly operated FO and never really the supporting cast to do much.

DET's FO is one of the few out there worse than DAL over the last about 20-25 years.

IMO, Stafford, at his age and with his physical issues, could still be an upgrade for several teams: NYJ, CLE, IND, JAX, HOU (w/o Watson), DEN, NYG, WFT, CHI, LAR, and LV (maybe)

Stafford is good. Prescott is better. The difference, at this stage, is significant.

Stafford also might be dealing with a long-term back issue. Time will tell on that.

But in the modern NFL, you don't get better by being worse at QB. That's just the game these days.

Matt Stafford is on a whole other level above Dak as a passer. Maybe on the short list of the best pure passers in this league ....ever. He has Mahomes arm talent.
Bruce Arians, Aaron Rodgers, etc.....all those guys they just mentioned raving about him even at 32.

but Dak is younger and a good leader, and the players here love him.
Thats a big deal.

Staffords cap hits are $9.5 this year and $12.5 next year. More than half of what Dak willl get. But they likely want a 1st rounder for him

You can pay the man, but Dallas isn't going to the SB while Dak is being paid like an elite talent. Even elite talents have a hard time getting there taking up a huge portion of the cap. Ask Rodgers and Brees about that. Teams are better off with a halfway decent QB under a rookie contract with a very good team around them.

So let me get this straight, you want to trade a qb who actually has a playoff win and an overall winning record for a qb who has a losing record and has never won a playoff game and a sketchy injury history lately, right? Did I get that right?

Well since all the Dak defenders want to blame the defense and coaching for his not winning and stating it's a TEAM game then why can't the same be said about Stafford? Oh, and Stafford's stats are similar to Dak's since 2016 so why not take on an equally good QB for less money?
