just so you know, the 3rd round is 2nd day as of last year's draft.

what do you think of my latest....

2 - OG Duke Robinson or OC Eric Wood
3 - OLB Lawrence Sidbury
4 - ILB Daniel Holtzclaw
4 - FS Darcel McBath
5 - OLB Jason Williams
5 - DT Sammie Lee Hill
5 - WR Johnny Knox
6 - CB Brice McCain
6 - OT Lydon Murtha
7 - ILB/SS Spencer Adkins
7 - CB Wopamo Osaisai

UDFA
OT - Ryan Delrosal
OT - Jose Valdez
CB - Ryan Palmer
WR - Greg Carr

I am hoping we wait until next season to draft a QB to groom, hopefully Colt McCoy.

I like Holtzclaw, but no way he is going in the 4th, maybe not even in the 6th.

his stock has been going up, and after his pro day, I can see him going in the 4th. I would prefer to get him with our 5th round comp pick

I doubt its gone from 7-UDFA to 4th. Have his 40 times been released? Much as I dislike using those times, it is usually that particular measurable that determines meteoric rises.

If anything, it is Jason Williams who has distinguished himself more, and if any LB rises higher than the 4th, from where he was originally slotted 4th-6th, it will be Williams and his multiple 4.4's.

I'd be pleased with that draft. Not gunna lie. Duke is growin on me! I hate to take our first pick on something that's actually a strong point (Kosier and BIGG) though. Kosier is the most underrated player on our team and I really don't want to lose him yet if we don't have to.

Wouldn't mind Wood though..can play all three interior line positions..that's a huge plus.

With Koiser and Holland drafting a guard first is plan silly.

Because they were both SOOOO good last year, right??

Guess you're willing to gamble that a) Kosier won't get hurt again, and b) Holland will show up to training camp in shape, ready to go... because if both of those don't happen, then we're right back to counting on Cory Procter...

And what would be the harm with bringing in a guard who might be better than both Kosier and Holland (referring to Duke Robinson here, he's the only guard I'd even consider at pick 51)??

I was quite confused, until I read your mock draft that's in your sig... seems you don't want a big, mauling, physical guard who fits the prototype of what Hudson Houck looks for in an offensive lineman, but you're quite willing to draft a finesse tackle who really doesn't fit Houck's profile... to which I'd reply that we already have Doug Free, why would we draft his freakin' clone??

I've watched you here on the draft board these past coupla months, and I plan on thanking God that you have no hand in making personnel decisions for my favorite football team... sorry, but I surely don't see you as a draft guru...

Have you noticed how well we have been drafting OL and you have the audacity to get on this guys case for an unrealistic draft? We need to do something different than what we have done the last ten years in the OL draft, is that not the definition of something? Same thing for ten years and the same result, some do not have to wonder. Hudson Houck player, ok, make that 11 years. Pass the kool-aid, and do not act surprised when we spend our wad on OL in FA down the road.

Sure do... Meredith would not be well-served by being drafted by the Cowboys, he needs to go to a team like the Broncos...

Now, are you suggesting that Duke Robinson is not a very good, very physical guard??

We need to do something different than what we have done the last ten years in the OL draft, is that not the definition of something? Same thing for ten years and the same result, some do not have to wonder.

Uhhh, don't look now, but until last year, draft decisions were shaped by first Larry Lacewell, then by Jeff Ireland... but now, it's Tom Ciskowski, so your "the last ten years argument" is feeble... we have different people shaping our drafts these days, so it's kind of ridiculous to expect that old patterns will continue...

And given that Meredith has a very similar skillset to Doug Free's, no, drafting him would most assuredly NOT be "doing something different"...

So now, I know that you're not exactly a heavyweight draft guru, either...

I gotta disagree here, Free is a 320lb. guy who is weak as hell, Meredith is skinnier, but stronger coming out as a rookie than Free was, benching 225, 31 times at the Combine, compared to Free's 22, at 325

also Free is a finesse blocker, that label hasn't been attributed to Meredith

Free's problem is that he's really weak in the upper body, can't say that about Meredith

I would be a bit suprised if Dallas did take a QB in this draft since we brought in Kitna.

Slate, never make your final mock this early:)

Too many things change.

And I am sure we will draft a QB. We have too many picks not to and will want a 3rd QB who at the very least is on the practice squad. We would have resigned Bollinger as the 3rd QB if we thought we could/should develop him.

True however the 3rd QB would end up getting cut on the final cut day and have to make it through waivers to be placed on practice squad I highly doubt Dallas will have 3 after the final 53 man roster is established.

Actually, Free is nastier. Merideth may be the better athlete (based on measurables) but Free moves better (better feet, better getting to second level, better in space) and had the better production as OT.

Free does need to get stronger (upper & lower body), Merideth needs more experience (jack of all trades, played all over the line) and an attitude adjustment (inconsistent, underachieved).

I would tend to agree with you but another team would have to have an open roster spot to keep that guy and we wouldn't be drafting one early anyways. Even if it is a player like Matt Moore we get him in house and take a good look at him. Decide if he is worth burning a roster spot for. The Moore experience as well as using 3 QBs last year may alter how we address it.

I know it is a benefit to be able to have that 3rd guy active without costing a 45 man spot in case of injury. And we will want a 3rd QB for practices without doubt. With 11 picks hard to assume we'll wait and then bid and hope we get lucky to acquire a guy we like there. --there being as an udfa.

You can never have enough good QB's..I think you always need to have a young QB for him to groom for a few years..just like one particular QB on our roster now..Tony Romo???

I understand that but draft a QB in the 5th rd and then having to release him to bring him back to the practice squad is risky. It is hard enough to get your roster down to 53 which is why it will be difficult to have 3 QB after the final cut. I'm all for bringing a QB on to the practice squad I would just as soon draft one later as a project 6th or 7th rd. If Dallas is looking at replacing Romo any time soon then that draft pick will be much higher

I'll take it and not complain, but no WR?

No, I pondered on taking Bryd in the 6th but decided to pass..

I'm going to assume that Felix will be our 4th/5th reciever going in motion into the slot of some plays..potentially catching around 30-40 balls.
