Can't see any reason to put us above the Saints.

Yes, we beat them, but they had a great year and did what it took to be Super Bowl champions. Is there really much reason to expect them to drop-off?
I think outside of Brees, Colston, Evans and Sharper, they don't have a player that can start for us.

Wow, the Saints really do get no respect. We definitely shouldn't be #2 if you ask me. Seems like every year someone puts us in the superbowl. The Saints beat the Colts to win the superbowl and somehow they still end up #1.

10. Vikings - obviously counting on Lord Favre returning
Obviously, they are counting on him not returning.

If Favre is back, Minnesota is easily in the top 3 or 4, and should be ahead of the Cowboys. They have as much or more talent at almost every position, compared to Dallas.

Hope our Cowboys don't read the list and start feeling too good about themselves like 2007 where some media outlets predicted they would go to the Super Bowl.

I think we are pretty even.

yea, 34-3 is pretty even.
That's one game and I believe if we took advantage of our chances early it would have been different, also I liked to see the Vikings on our home field.

I really think our OL has to get better to justify this ranking. I think this group benefits greatly from Tony Romo making them look better than they really are.

There seems to be too many breakdowns where one of them doesn't even get a hand on a guy, it's perplexing. Worse, the problem isn't even relegated to one or two of them ... it's kind of random, one play it's Flo another time it's Gurode or Kosier. I would think this makes the problem harder to fix.

Also as big as they are they don't get as big a push as I think they should in the running game on short yardage. I don't think they're bad just inconsistent, and honestly that's not going to cut it if you want to be fighting for a championship.

I'm ready to infuse some serious competition on the OL early in the draft.

In some areas. Their WRs and OL are better. I don't think we have a distinct advantage at any position over them except at LB.

With Favre, they were just better. They won more games in the regular season, then whipped the Cowboys when it mattered most.

If Favre is there, and that's a huge if, then you'd have to favor them over Dallas. Not that Dallas can't improve and one injury on either side can change things dramatically, but putting Dallas #2 is a bit high. Personally, I'd put them in the 5-7 range were it my list.

1. We didn't take advantage of those chances. Just like Minn - from a certain point of view - dominated NO in the championship game, but didn't take enough advantage of their opportunities. Unfortunately for them, things like turnovers and penalties even out time of possession and moving the ball between the 20s. That's why NO is champion and Minn is in limbo waiting on Favre, instead of basking in the glow of its own championship.

2. They didn't win a coinflip to get homefield. They earned it.

How about most of their OL except maybe the Center (assuming Jamaal Brown is healthy again next year). You can add Will Smith, Sedrick Ellis and Jonathan Vilman (although he is a better fit in the 4-3 MLB slot).

The Saints GM Loomis was quoted when he was given the poll:
" No. 4? How come we're not #1? We've got a good group of core players, a great coaching staff. I think our window of opportunity is going to last at least as long as as Drew Brees is our qb."

Eagles LB Will Witherspoon felt the Ealges should have been at least ranked 6th due to the young guys they had and the injuries they had to overcome.

It should be noted that the poll was conducted by current players and former players and executives.

Just a few things to understand for those who can't believe or agree with our #2 ranking.

1) First of all, these polls are meaningless BS.
2) These polls are not merit polls based soley on 2009. That's what the 2009 season was for. This is a poll to project where teams might finish. Or at the very least start the 2010 season.

The Steelers didn't even make the playoffs and lost to the worst teams in the league. 7 is more than generous.

Right...and the Bengals did make the playoffs, and are that low.

Wow. That's pretty high. Talent-wise I can't think of a team better than us, but for some reason we just can't seem to make deep pushes in the playoffs. With our talent though I could easily see us making a Super Bowl. Some of it depends on luck though, so if we can get hot at the right time we have a legitimate shot at getting #6.

It takes time. We really haven't been prime as a team for a deep playoff run.

The year we broke in with Quincy Carter, did anyone really think we were going to win a playoff game with that roster and that quarterback?

The Seattle game we could have won, but we went all conservative, IMO. Still can't get over not attacking a team decimated in the secondary that signed a post man as a cornerback, for Pete's sake.

We hung with the Giants, but they were the more prepared team.

And we just got caught up in the nose in the Metrodome.

You look at Minnesota ... when was its last NFC Championship Game beyond this past year? Uh, 2000.

The Saints? Three years ago prior to this year.

The Eagles got there last year after making it in after a four year wait.

Again, I think fans don't understand how difficult it is to win in the NFL.

Our time is coming. :)

I'm thinking, the Bears, with Martz will be much improved...also, I'm thinking the Vikings aren't going to be close to what they were this year.

Much as I enjoyed the Jets run at the end of the year (not at all) people better be careful with how they rate them. They were an average team all year and got on a bit of a run in the playoffs..I think they're rated way too high here.
