Snacks Harrison: My No. 1 choice is the Cowboys

Aren't Crawford and Poe's contracts guaranteed for the year now that they were on the roster to start the season?

Isn't that the big deal about waiting until after week 1 to sign free agents at this point on the league year?

I am not for certain, but I don't think you can get cap savings by cutting big contracts after the season has started...I could be wrong and it would be great if someone with more knowledge about the contractual side of things could explain it as it pertains to after the start of the season.

Obviously, some of those guys yearly portion of their contracts (game checks) have already been paid as we are 4 games into the season. So those saying cutting Crawford would save 9 million are wrong as he has collected 4 game checks. Crawford is making roughly $562,500 per game unless he got a roster bonus for being on the roster in March. So he has already collected $2.25M so that cap savings is going down every game, same with Poe. Although his numbers are significantly less.

Now I don't know if any of this is true or not, I am just following the logic of the situation but we all know that many times these things do not follow rational thought but it seems they are here for the season pretty much no matter what.

It seems any roster additions would dip into the Dak fund.

Also, I'd like to add that I am all for adding Harrison and Eric Reid or Tony Jefferson to the roster even if it means dipping into Daks money. I like Dak a lot but my question for Dak is, why haven't we seen "down by 25 points" Dak to start the game instead of always trying to get back into the game? It seems that Dak is worth a really big contract equivalent to around the top 6 to 10 contracts not top 1 to 5...just my opinion.

Too many players don’t care about crap like winning these days. A million or two for a year on the world’s most popular team sounds good to most.

I get that it would be great to just go down the road to work, but given a choice between Dallas and Seattle? Assuming anyone wants him, of course.
 
On Poe and Crawford, I think since they are vets their entire salary guaranteed when they were on the roster on week one.

I would agree but...aren't we still responsible for Por and Crawfords contract this year even if we cut them? I don't think wed get a cap savings.
 
Pretty sure I heard a couple days ago Harrison was on a plane to Seattle and one other team to interview for a job.

Actually 2 reasons
He lives in Dallas
He could start
Keep in mind, at the end of last season he considered retiring coz he wanted to spend more time with his family ( who lives in Dallas ).

He also said the main reason he retired was because he didn’t feel he was playing up to his own standard.

As 4 year vested vets, both players are/were eligible to have their salaries guaranteed if they were on the after the first game of the season but there's a catch. The player can only use this option/termination claim ONCE. In other words, since Poe has been with several teams he may have already used the option with a former team/contract, meaning he can not recover any lost 2020 salary if we cut him. The bottom line, yes Crawford 2020 salary is now guaranteed but we not sure about Poe w/o some research.

Had they brought him in for camp I'm sure he could've helped - even if it wasn't until McCoy went down. Now, I'm not sure how much difference he'd make.
