Snap counts vs pack.
Some things that stood out to me:
  • The Cowboys had 83 snaps on offense to GBs 64.
  • Tony Pollard had 72 snaps yesterday. He usually gets no more than 20-30.
  • Jalen Tolbert had 8 snaps. One of those snaps was embarrassing.
  • Four TEs had snaps yesterday. Schultz 63, Ferguson 26, Hendershot 17 and McKeon 9.
  • Kelvin Joseph had 41 snaps and DeRon Bland had 35. Bland got exposed a couple of times.
  • Jonathan Hankins had 25 snaps yesterday and had 1 tackle.
  • DLaw actually had a great game yesterday. Played 46 snaps, had 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 TFL.
What jumped out to you?

2 things stood out to me. Parsons playing off the ball as much as he did. Our secondary, not named Diggs, made the injured Rodgers and receivers I've never heard of look like the 2nd coming of Randy Moss' rookie year. As much talk about our run defense our pass defense was horrific considering Rodgers only threw the ball 20 times or so.

He’s proved he can in a game. Over a long season…I seriously doubt it. Malik Davis should have had more than 5 carries yesterday. He avg 7 yds a carry. I like Pollard for about 15 carries, and the other back (Zeke or Davis) getting 10-12, and Dak getting 4-5, and maybe 1 jet sweep or gadget run with Turpin.
I agree. Malik Davis should be more involved regardless of Zeke's health. When Zeke comes back I'd like to see Pollard and Zeke's snap count decrease and Davis increase. Not anything drastic but my thinking is Davis moved the chain's, ran hard, picked up the blitz, and didn't turn it over. Sounds like a good guy to spell Zeke and Pollard to keep them fresh. Davis showed he can give the other RBs a rest and we can still do our offense. I hope we use that moving forward.

  • Pollard looked good with 22 carries on a heavy snap count
  • Turpin continues to be under-utilized
  • 9 penalties is way too many and it’s mostly guys on low snap counts commiting them
  • Tolbert playing 2 snaps with 1 penalty is embarrassing

With 8 games left Pollard should be getting 25 touches combined run/pass
There were plays where Pollard hit a wall and still squeaked though for 5-7yds
Zeke would have been stuffed at 2 yds

Moving forward Zeke should be used in short yardage/FB role splitting time with Davis.
Quit stacking routes and spread routes across the field, Dak doesn't see well in crowds.
Use young TEs, let Schultz walk.

Not sure if there's a site that does it but I'd love to see what the Pack did on the plays Hankins was in...what % of plays were pass vs run...avg ypc when he was in vs when he wasn't...% of plays run inside when he was in, etc.

Probably asking for a lot there, but it would be interesting to see if he's making a difference on any level when he's in. He might be, it just might not be obvious but buried in the data...or maybe he doesn't.

Malik would of had more carries if KM had stuck to the script and didnt abandon the run in the 4th Q. As mentioned in other places averaging 7 'less risk yards on the ground' may have been the sane approach.

Until we prove we can stop it, every team is going to force feed the run game followed by play action passes. The Cowboys haven’t stopped the run in a very long time.
Stretch runs and anything across the middle, or deep to the right side, is gold against this D. Unless Micah does his Superman thing

Since the Cowboys essentially play a 5 man secondary with 2 LBs most of the time, aren’t we inviting teams to run?

Here is my problem with Quinn. We cannot stop the run. We haven't been able to stop the run all year. It is the reason we lost last week and our biggest issue all year and in big spots for years now. AND...7 snaps for a LB not named Micah or LVE. LBs stop the run, not Safeties.

Don’t disagree with you. But safeties can be very important in run support. Our safeties often play so deep, a rb is five yards downfield before they can get to them.

What jumps out at me is how Cowboys disregard the run. We come down hard on the outside and teams just run around them. the interior constantly looking to shoot gaps or stunting making the OL job that much easier to run block. Right now teams are using the Cowboys aggression on defense against them. I think Cowboys will have to adjust how we play especially in early downs. GB was able to run on 1st down picking up 4 to 6 yards leaving themselves in great 2nd and 3rd down situations. I know Cowboys love to apply the pressure but until we become less aggressive in trying to get into the back field teams will continue to use our aggression against us.

Sure, but not even close to as important as LBs. The reason safeties are good against the run is because usually there is a front 7 to clear out the muck. When you have a front 6 and play one of those safeties as a hybrid LB it's not going to work. I mean look at our games. It isn't working. How any coach can watch this defense and not think something needs to change is beyond perplexing.

Clark and Sam with limited snaps on D. Looks like they played on ST’s quite a bit. Get these young pups with speed on the field already. All Sam does is make plays.

Here’s a sobering thought- without Parsons as a pass rusher, this defense is average.

Been thinking this since last year. That’s why he’s our MVP. He’s obviously hurting. He looked like that was the last place he wanted to be on Sunday.
