Do you have a mate that snores? When do you tell them that they snore? If not, what do you do about it?

Just curious...

you have a mate?:( :(

Elbow them to make them turn on their side.

At least that is what the wife does to me.:D

I don't have a mate that snores.

I AM the mate that snores. Don't think my gf does anything about it. She used to it by now I guess.

I used to have a roomate in college that sounded like a freakin' whale cuz he snored so loud. I would throw a pillow at him (Dorms) and yell, "RUBEN! STOP SNORING!"

Worked for me.

Oh man, I forgot about that. Yeah I use them, although I forgot about them and haven't used them in awhile.

They help me get better quality sleep too.

It's a him... He's fine when he's on his side, but he's a big dude. Can't roll him over with just a nudge.

Breathe right strips is an idea. Gotta do it passive/agressive-like. Just buy them and tell him to use them.

You must be in a new relationship otherwise you wouldnt' be looking for a tactful way of getting him to wear them or approach him about it. I'd say he's prob had this problem before if he snores that loud so he's prob expecting it...

He'll actually thank you for it eventually. He probably doesn't even realize it, but I bet he doesn't get very good sleep (snoring is a sign of that).

The breathrites are gonna help him tremendously.

Awww *hug*

Thanks guys for all the advice. Relatively speaking it's a new relationship. But it was just something I was thinking about, cuz I've never been in a relationship with someone who snores.

Generally speaking, if the snoring is loud enough to wake your partner, then you should look for other indicators of obstructed sleep apnea (the killer that took Reggie White). If your mate is constantly fatigued, complains about not getting enough sleep, is narcoleptic (falls asleep anywhere or anytime), or exhibits signs of depression, then suggest a sleep study. Almost all insurance providers will pay for this 6 hour test that can change your life.

Short of the in-depth medical exam, sleeping on one's side works wonders.

Some people will sleep in a t-shirt that has a tennis ball attached to the back of the t-shirt -- basically between the shoulder blades. The ball makes it uncomfortable for the person to sleep on his/her back, so they "naturally" gravitate toward sleeping on their side.

It is often effective.

Not sure how you pull this off in a subtle way. You could act like you have a kinky attraction to the tennis ball shirt. That'd get him in it.

B4 you do this make sure you have your Life Insurance purchased... The rates for Sleep Apnea people is almost tripple normal and some companies won't insure you due to most with Sleep Apnea have other medical conditions...

Just get him to put that breathe right strip on. I am a big fella myself, and while I don't snore all that often according to my wife when I do it is not too good for her. She has threatened to super glue it to my nose before.

My last girlfriend complained of my snoring and we figured out that it happened more after I had been drinking.

I started sleeping on my side and she never complained of it again.

Now, I naturally sleep on my side and I can no longer sleep when I am on my back.

heres the deal since hes bigger haha...you spin so your feet are towards his back, then on the count of 3 (yes to your self) you kick him off the bed and spin back and pretend like your sleeping....eventually he will stop...hopefully :D
