Snow White

I still don't understand what is wrong with the wholesomeness of the old movies and TV shows. Leave it alone. So the handsome prince saves the beautiful woman. Is that really so bad that they have to change it?

Disney is going to make money on this film eventually. Once it goes to streaming, people will turn it on for curiosity and eventually it will break even or maybe even make a little profit.

There is a warning that some networks post at the beginning of some old TV shows. It reads, "Outdated Cultural Depictions". This is listed with other warnings like language, etc. It's as if the audience isn't smart enough to see that these shows are old and some of the themes may be old fashioned..

Uh, NO disney is NOT going to eventually make money on this. IT is not going make that much money. You might want to look into it a little deeper. For individual movies and tv shows, there is not as much as you might think.

Same thing with the latest Captain America; lots of reshoots ballooned the budget badly but Disney is trying to hide it
There ie this weird obsession people have trying to determine what a flop is or isn’t. It’s impossible to know without knowing the budget or how much made from merchandise.

To me it’s art. And the younger audience gets a new way to view the story.

actually its pretty well known to anyone that bothers to look.
BUT get this:
a flop is a movie that just breaks even
A DISASTER is a movie that loses millions
AN EPIC DISASTER is a movie that loses hundreds of millions

and I am glad you do not care.

Oh I do care lol. I love movies and the process they are made. I just said it’s a weird obsession people have with trying to determine what’s a flop and what’s not. People have no idea how much reshoots costs, or how much merchandise is made…or how much money is made overseas and how much money they receive from overseas markets.

Everyone swears Disney keeps losing money yet they keep cranking out material monthly so who knows….

The numbers are usually available to the public, for better or worse. I don't care enough to do the research myself, but I've watched a few videos by people who have..and even that, I don't care much.

some probably think you have a weird obsession with others obsessions

BUT once again you clearly do not know much about this at all.
You seem to think the studio gets every dollar of the gross
WRONG
you also seem to think the studio gets every dollar of the merchandizing and so on
WRONG
and you also clearly do not understand anything about movie finances or costs

Yes, it’s demeaning to women that they have to be saved all the time by men who are clearly very bad!

Ha, I knew the contents of this thread before even clicking it. On the topic though, I do wish remake flops or any flops would make a studio stop making them but nope they'll just continue. With the remakes like this it has to be a copyright thing. Keep making live action remakes that no one watches so you don't lose the rights. Fox was doing that with the X-Men movies before Disney bought them and Sony is doing it with the Spiderverse.
