So..are all 3 backs here next year?

Choice is a great backup at a cheap price...he's back.
Felix is a first round pick under contract who's been injured a lot...he's back.

MBIII is not as good as a starter as he was when teamed with JJ, and he's making more money than he's worth on a good day. But unless one of the great RBs drops to us in the draft and we can't pass it up, he'll be back as well.

Unless Felix proves he can be a starting RB and be consistant, we'll never have a star RB like our other SB teams had...just good ones.

No one would trade for Barber at this point. But I could see you cutting him if it reduces payroll. I have no idea how the uncapped year works, but if I were a Cowboys fan, I'd be happy with only Choice and Felix splitting the carries and Barber elsewhere.
:blind:

I think that is a given though considering who you root for.

An offer will be made for Choice and he will end up becoming a star elsewhere...

Exit Portis enter Barber?

I HATE that idea.

I dont know how this cap thing works but if Jerry can take the hit I would rather keep choice and Felix...Let barber walk.

I dont think so, really doubt they'd trade Choice unless somebody offered a 1st rd pick, or perhaps allowed us to move from way down in the first round to way up (into the top-10)

I think what happens with the coaching situation could have a huge bearing on it too. If somebody like Shanahan comes in, Jones and Choice are ideal backs for his style of offense, and Barber clearly is not.

1) Start Choice

2) Use Barber on 3rd down, short yardage, red zone, closer (That's still at least 60% of snaps)

3) Felix - Chage of pace, special packages, for crying out loud get creative and figure out how to use him in space/passing game....Sean Payton and Sparano play call circles around you red headed idiot.

hmmmmm and was he fresh at the end of last year - every one goes on an on about how great he was - nobody had tape on him -
if hes that great he be starting

Just like Crayton deserved to be starting over Austin at the start of the year? If RW doesn't get injured, Austin is still wasting away as the 3rd WR and hardly getting any touches.

The staff don't always make the right decisions - they are not Gods.

All three will be back next year. Good problem to have because RBs are injury prone now.

Barber and Jones still under big contract and Choice is cheap.

Jones and Choice can't be FA for at least 2 more years.

2 year from now I can see us trade or release one...I suspect it will be Barber as his style of running will wear him down.

Jones' contract is not 1/2 of Barbers.

I still think Choice should be starting.. he's the only back out of the three that hasn't fumbled at the NFL Level. Jones has 1 w/ less than 100 carries.. Barber has 15 in 900.. Choice has 0 with 150.

I Like Barber But I Think The Speed And Talent Of Jones And Choice Will Be A Better Fit For Our Offense.

We'd be stupid not to keep all 3. Neither of the backs behind Barber are durable. Depth is a virtue.

Like Barber is duraable.

When has Choice missed a game due to injury?

I Think Choice Will Not Be Here. Which Is A Bad Decision, But They Need To Trade Barber After The Year For Some Players Or Draft Choices.

Why would they get rid of Choice???

He was drafted in the 4th round and is still on his rookie deal which is very cheap.

If your goal is to reduce salary, look at Barber making $8 mill a year. However, he is going to be hard to trade with that contract.

If CJ Spiller were available in the draft, I'd roll the dice on CJ Spiller if I could trade Barber for something decent (2nd rounder).

Great responses by everyone. I think the Cowboys might keep all three backs for one more year, but someone is going to start complaining about their lack of carries at some point (no one seems to have grumbled too much yet). Jones is the biggest threat we have in my opinion, but as several of you have stated cannot stay healthy. Barber has been a disappointment as a starter. I would like to see him return more to a change of pace role. Choice has a lot of heart and gives it all he has every down that he is in the game. I think if you get rid of one of the three, you probably need to make a decision between Choice and Jones. Jones has more potential but if he can't stay healthy then he isn't helping your team. I would keep all three for another year and see how it plays out. If Jones gets hurt again next year, you have to start to wonder.
