So Fellas, Do You Think Jerry Trades Both 1s For Mcfadden

Hey guys, I know the draft is still months and months away, but they were showing on SportsCenter how the teams with the top 5 picks last year are all doing reasonably well this year, given their expectations.

That got me thinking.....if Cleveland goes 6-10 or maybe 7-9 and we end up with maybe a pick between 10-15 range, does Jerry trade our pick (#32 of course!!!) and the Browns pick for say the #1 or #2 overall to get McFadden?

I have to admit that I have never watched an Arkansaw game, only seen highlights on SportsCenter of McFadden. He looks like a BEAST from the highlights, but I was wondering if some of all have watched his games this year.

Is McFadden worth 2 #1 picks???

No. We trade at least the high pick for some additional picks.

Nope. I wouldn't trade two #1's for him, but he is a complete stud.

I hope not, McFadden would be nice but it's not like we have a huge hole at RB. I'd rather stay put if he's gone and pick up something like a CB and WR in the 1st round. We can always get a speedy back like Forsett, Thomas Brown, or Jamaal Charles later on day 1 or early in day 2.

No argument from me on that one. What would be sweet is if we could trade it for a 2nd and a 1st the following year.

That way we kinda have a pair of ones every year until we really need to use both, like injuries or we lose somebody in free agency, ect....

In case you haven't noticed, we usually trade DOWN to get more picks.

But you know Jerry has some serious wood for a fellow Razorback!!!:lmao2:

I think WR and CB are the obvious needs on the team, with the age and injury issues we are having this year.

We are at the point where we need quality, not quantity

Judging by the coming draft, we should be able to get 2 "quality" picks with our 2 1st rounders. The RB class is pretty deep and we should be able to get a good one with Cleveland's pick (Rice and Hart to name 2) and a good CB or WR with our own picks. Not often you get an opportunity to take 2 players in the 1st round.

Not necessarily.

Think of it this way...

What if the Browns' pick ends up being around 15 and our pick around 25.

With those picks, on THIS team, we likely won't get a year 1 or year 2 starter. That player would likely be depth.

SOrt of like Bobby Carpenter. We all know people cry like babies cuz Carp isn't a starter (nevermind that we have A LOT of talent on the team and it's harder for 1st round picks to start, it's not like 5-6 years ago where our roster was so weak that it was easy for a rookie to start).

Would you rather have another "Bobby Carpenter" or would you rather trade those two Carpenters and get an elite starter?

That said, I like Carpenter and think he'll be a good LB for us for years to come. BUt he'll never be "Elite".

On THIS team, since we have A LOT of depth, I'd add a superstar starter. If it were 6 years ago and we need a lot of players, I'd take the multiple starters (cuz 6 years ago they'd have a MUCH better chance of starting).

Of course we'd probably only be able to get up to around 6th or 7th with those two picks but that might be good enough to get him.

This is the point i've been making.

Take a good look at this roster ladies and gentlemen. Not very many weaknesses and or spots to be taken. But if you'd like to look at our near future, then look at the age at the WR and CB areas.

I'd personally make a play with our Clevenlands' pick to get Fitzgerald or some other hotshot young WR out there (if proven) and use the other one to find our future corner.

If Cleveland happens to choke enough to be top 4 and McFadden falls to us, you might want to go ahead and take the playmaker and trade Barber, because I believe that would cost too much to resign Barber and sign McFadden to a huge deal.

But at some point, we're going to have to address this WR youth movement, unless Stanback is our future.

while I would agree with this if we had no weaknesses this team is not there yet....

so by no means are we good enough that we can pass up a first round corner & WR/RB/DE(SPEARS & CANTY may not be good enough) for a guy who has had toe, knee, ankle and concussion problems(quick google search showed he had those problems)

No way you trade those picks for Dmac....

You take Jake Long and best WR/RB (if Jerry lets Julius walk) available....

I personally would not. The only time I would trade 2 #1s is if I was a team desperate enough to add a franchise QB, but that's just me.

I also don't think there's such a thing as too much depth in the NFL where players are routinely lost to injury.

We should definitely start looking for Flozell's replacement.

If Felix comes out, he could still get an Arkansas back.
