So how much impact do you think Strahan will have...

Strahan usually plays very well against Dallas. For some reason, him and Trotter almost always have a good day against the Cowboys, so I'm glad Trotter got released. I feel a little better about our chances considering Colombo is over at right tackle, Romo is the QB and given Strahan's current state. But my guess is that he'll still play a pretty good game against the Cowboys.

YAKUZA

Strahan is human and at his age he will not be effective at all. He's had absolutely no TC. He can run, lift weights, and rest all he wants but its not the same as putting on the pads and getting into football shape. If he plays, I'd run at him often and make his arse work. It takes awhile to get into football shape. Without any TC, he's nowhere near ready for consistent contact. He's gonna be suckin wind and tired..

If Strahan somehow starts the game, he'll probably be most effective in the first and third quarters and stretched thin in the second and fourth quarters. My fear is that he doesn't start and he's brought in as a situational pass rusher only. That would magnify his energy level throughout his first game back and allow him to do what he does best.

So you think he is out of shape? He hasn't been to TC - that doesn't mean he was sitting on his butt watching TV - he knows where his body needs to be at this stage of his career and he certainly doesn't need reps to figure stuff out.

No I didn't say he was out of shape, I said he wasn't in football shape. That's totally different. Sure, he could've been running hard and working out but that isn't football shape. You have to put the pads on and have consistent contact to get into football shape especially for his position down in the trenches. Inshape and football shape is totally 2 different things.. By the way, I said nothing about him sitting on his butt watching TV and yes he does need reps regardless of how many years he's played in the league. He hasn't had contact since last season, of course he needs the reps.

strahan don't want none! columbo is gonna chew him up and spit him out.

So when Walter Jones missed TC for like 3 years running and came in and dominated at LT, that was a fluke? No, he was a great player who knew where he needed to be physically.

Walter Jones was a great player in his prime, Strahan has been fading and thinking of retirement. Huge difference!!! Strahan is on the tail end of his career and I'm sure his body feels every bit of it. He has said so himself. I just don't see him being effective until maybe the 3rd of 4th game of the season... Midway thru the 1st qtr, his body will let him know that he missed TC and physical contact...

Strahan will give it every thing he's got. BTW: If Strahan (maybe even TG & whose knows Ellis even) show that TC not necessary for them, how do the NFL owners continue to justify TC? TC could be left to the rookies & other younger players with vets of 4 or more years not required attend until last week of TC & only participate in 2 preseason games. Of course the owners wouldn't allow that cause of all the money they make from these preseason games which nothing more then scrimmages.

i think the guy is ready, and i think his been getting ready for the season on his own time, this guy is a veteran he dosnt need the pre-season/training camp.
But i hope our line has an extra step on him.

... against us, coming off of no training camp, no real football conditioning, and being 35 years old?

Will he be rested and energized, or out of shape and fatigued after a few plays?

Is his holdout an advantage or a disadvantage for us?

Doesn't matter-with that new DC they got(that LB coach from Philly)-expect them to be alot more aggressive, and their defensive playcalling alot more unpredictable.

Tim Lewis was just too conservative, and didn't even know how to design his blitzes well(he also got ran out of Pitt for this same reason).

only play on rushing downs. Tuck has been playing very well in his place. He will probably only be rushing Romo this week. And there will probably be a rotation most of the year for him to keep him fresh.

As far as his conditioning. It has been reported that he has been working out a lot. I'm sure he isn't in top football shape but he should be fine to rush Romo a few times next week.

Hey Tom-what are your early opinions on Spags?

When Tim Lewis was fired last year-I remember reading on the Steelers' board how we "Took the Blitz out of Pittsburgh" and "How Lebeau took this SAME personnel-i.e. SAME weak secondary-and turned it into a Top 5er D".

You think Romo will lay down for him like Farve did?

Wait a goldarned minute

Hasn't Coughlin said he would not play Strahan because he has not been practicing?

Or, fellow hooligans, did he say he wouldn't start him?

Saying and doing are not the same thing when you are trying to win a game, especially against the Cowboys!

It's a GOOD thing that he wil be in there. He's out of 'football shape.'
