It’s a hard transition to the pros but honestly it’s not overly complicated to find the 1st round caliber prospects. Size/length, + athlete and + production at a somewhat legit program. If they check those boxes and give me a solid 40 / 3 cone I’m in.

It’s perfectly fine to be afraid of a bust but it can literally happen at every position. You draft DE, LTs, etc in the 1 bc they cost a fortune in FA and you get them cheap for 5 years if you hit.

Excellent point, you follow the money in the 1st rd, cause if you hit, save a ton of money with a rookie contract. All the high paid positions should be the focus in rd 1: QB, WR, LT, Pass Rusher, CB. It wouldn't surprise me if that target a Tackle and kick him inside, when Tyron/Collins are gone, move him to Tackle. This was the same reasoning why I liked Slater last yr.

For sure…I think the stud OTs will be gone. Small school guys scare me in round 1 but if the FO loves Penning and he balls out at the Sr Bowl game / combine I could get on board.

Id much rather take someone like that with OT potential than a G only prospect in round due to the value.

You know the front office loves position flex, especially within the OL. Heard Bobby Belt state Penning was a name to watch. Could kick him inside an develop him to become a future starting Tackle.
